Jazz select Isaiah Collier at pick 29

Still cannot fathom how he was on the board at #29.

Plenty of warts. But talented dude. I probably watched 80% of his games this year and I don't think there's a better player in the country at getting downhill. Got whatever he wanted getting into the paint and going to the rim. Honestly, he should have done it more - was a big point of frustration for me as a USC fan.

From about 27min onwards Locke talks about Collier’s shooting compare to other draftees.. the stats reassured me a bit about his shooting might not be as bad as I’d first thought.

Holy **** Locke has an obsession with Collier that I’ve ever seen him have for any one player. At one point his hands are raised in the air as he’s talking about him with a passion of a prophet preaching to a multitude of people on some high hill. Frankly it was a little disturbing lmao.

As far as comps I think Sexton and some shades of Bledsoe… not on defense but just the body and drives. Not as good vertically as either guy but projects as a better passer. If he gets interested in defense and shoots it you are REALLY on to something. May end up as a high end backup but good hell how did he end up 29? Like Bucks went for an upside play at pg and passed this guy up… yeesh.
By the way, the way you tell if a site giving out draft grades is being honest or not is if the AJ pick is anything higher than a C-. Unbelievably bad pick.

You should see him during the Jazz Live draft broadcast.

He’s twice as hyped up and possessed.

Locke was going kinda wild, but he does make a great point. For the #1 prospect to fall you must have thought he stunk it up like crazy. He wasn't bad at USC.

right. His production stacks up nicely against any other OADs or power conference freshmen. 16 ppg on 49% FGs, 34% 3pt, high assist rate and FT rate - the only drawback was turnovers. 18 ppg on 47% FGs, 39% 3pt after injury and cut down his turnovers drastically. it's bizarre for a guy to play that well, no attitude issues, no injury issues to fall like that.

Cam Whitmore shouldn’t have fell. Tyrese Maxey shouldn’t have fell either.

agree on both, but there are a couple major differences - neither of them were ever projected #1 overall, and each of them had production issues. Whitmore only averaged 12 ppg. Maxey shot 42% FGs and 29% threes - Maxey was a victim of being a Calipari guard.

Collier had legitimately good numbers for a frosh - tied for team lead in scoring, led the team in assists, in FTA, highest FG% and TS% of any guard on the team. quite a bit better numbers than Keyonte George, for example. even Key went 16. it's one thing for Collier to drop, but 29 is insanity.

Music to my ears. AJ Johnson over him is a fireable offense.

If the Bucks picked up Collier, people would be raving about how incredible they did.
I mean, most draft reviews (from places that aren't like Bleacher Report) have been very high on the pick. I see us usually considered the "draft winner" along with Washington and Minnesota

Players fall that should not fall but players also fall that fell for good reason. Jared Butler comes to mind. I am glad it seems to be unanimous that Collier was a steal but I some questions. His shooting percentages raise some questions for me. I am more excited about Williams and Flip but hope Collier is what everyone thinks he is.

Remember Skal Labbisierre? He had pretty bad season after being a top recruit and ended up drafted at 28...

Speaking of never giving up….Jared Butler is actually good. He may still be an *** to deal with, but guy is talented.
