I don't get it, NBA doesn't want an unified playoff seed because of the wear of travel between east and west but is ok with some teams traveling to Ciudad de México, London, Rio de Janeiro, Beijing, etc.

So, travel because of fairness in competition is bad but travel because advertising and sales is good?

I just wish they would shorten the season by 10 games. Then one trip like this will have less impact, but still help the NBA/Jazz gain new fans around the world.

I agree about shortening the schedule, but this cuts down on travel distance for the Jazz.

Mexico City is closer to SLC than Orlando. It's also pretty easy to attach this game to a road trip off of a Texas game. This is hardly a travel burden game.

Not the end of the world either way but definitely a minor annoyance if it's an away game - Jazz always play consecutive road games against Miami/Orlando which is a puddle jump in terms of air miles.

I see it being attached to a road game and I see it being a road game for the Jazz. I don't think the NBA would allow a mid-high playoff seed lose a home game, $$$.

Also, IIRC Orlando is about 400 miles closer to Mexico City as well.

Sure they would lmao. The NBA doesnt care about a team losing a home game. I'm sure there is some sort of worthwhile financial compensation for the teams.

Note to @Jason -- you should add Eric Woodyard to the Jazzfanz twitter feed if you haven't yet. Looks like he's the new Jazz beat writer from Deseret News.

edit: nevermind, looks like he's already there.

Looks like it'll be a roadie. I'm cool with that then.

Edit: Confirmed by Eric Woodyard.

That was their announcement lol? That’s funny, they just made their fan base mad. I saw a few fans from there mad they won’t get to see Donovan, and some from Mexico excited to watch Donovan. So nice to have such a worldwide superstar.
