Jazz to Sign Neto

Opportunity to Cotton? He is a partially guaranteed player playing in Summer League. He played to end the year because we had no one else and Burke was injured.

Neto is signing now because he just had a down year. He realizes this is probably his last shot to come into the NBA and get in NBA circles.

Burke will be back. All this hate for the guy is silly-- even with his flaws, I'd rather have him handling the point than Neto/Cotton if Exum goes down during the season. Yes, he is slow developing, but he knows the system and is just coming off his sophomore season. There's plenty of potential still there that he'll come around, as crazy as some of you might think I am for saying that.

Slow to develop ... no, slow to realize when to take a good shot, and slow to realize that there are other guys on the court with better shots. I think Trey has some talent but his hero ball mentality is something that is preventing him from developing it.

Pleiss + Neto = being fed **** and told its sugar. These are hedged moves, with tankish implications. Truth is Neto would do ok, in the D-league.. maybe. 3rd PG in the NBA is pretentious as ****. He's not that good.

I don't understand the Neto hate. He's 6'2" with shoes which is adequate for backup NBA PG. He's a pass first PG who actually has a decent shot, just never looks for it and generally does "bail out" shots, so all anybody wants to do is focus on his "terrible" shooting ability. What we need him to be able to do is bring the ball up the court without turning it over, run the pick and roll, and be a decent defender. I think he can do all of that. Pretty sure he can hold his own against any other backup PG in the league. We already have our starter, so let's start looking at him in terms of everybody else's backup.

Look, if he was a phenomenal shooter / scorer then he would not have been avail when the Jazz drafted him. I still think he brings a lot of the table, and I really like the mix of talent Jazz PG lineup has (assuming we trade Burke).

He had 4 assists and 13 FGA in 30 MPG last season. He was taken out of the starting lineup not because Exum was ready to take over but because he was a negative on both ends of the floor.

Stop with the Bail out crap. Our whole team did that. Most of our shots were late shot clock. Watch a highlight reel of any Jazz player last season and you will see plenty of buzzer beaters/late shots.

He's talking about Neto.

I'm not so sure about Neto, but if he is going to develop, it is more likely to happen in Utah with Snyder than oversees. He probably plays spot minutes this year, depending on injuries, and if they like him enough will take the backup spot at trade deadline or next year. Pliess is a great pickup (assuming he signs). He is going to be the backup C, and Jazz will get to develop him so he's ready to contribute to a title run the next 2 years. He will be on a cheap contract, and if he outplays it will be a big trade asset (we do have our starting C for the next 15 years after all).

Sweet. Hopefully we can trade Burke for something. Exum, Neto & Cotton.
That's what I'm hoping. If we have to sign a player who can't shoot, may as well be a PG who isn't going to take 12 shots/per and just keep firing away. Cotton is a keeper, IMO. He's quick and can get the Jazz into their offense a lot faster than Burke. And again, he looks to pass.

I haven't seen Neto enough to have an opinion about him, only basing it on what other posters say. But I have had more than enough of Burke, like Kanter, addition by subtraction. And I do like Cotton, so because of him, I'm thinking Burke gets traded, not because of Neto. But because we signed Neto and Cotton has that upside, then it means Sayonara TB, at least that's what I hope and believe (if the FO sees what I'm seeing).

I think you're misusing the word pretentious.

I love Netos drive and dish game. His flashy passing, and ability to get around people will be fun to watch.

I see Neto getting into the lane, drawing defenders, and passing to Gobert for slams. Its going to be a ****ing thing of beauty.

I don't see the attitude issue with Burke. He took a backup role without complaining, and has taken the fans ire without complaining. He's a good leader. I don't think he's an exceptional player, but I have never seen any indication that he isn't a good teammate.

Interesting that so many are quick to trust DOL and company on Neto, when it was DOL and company that evaluated and selected Trey to begin with.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. We don't function in a vaccum and fornt offices aren't infallible. Re: DMC.

He posted nudes. Ewwwwwww.

Neto's got a really nice game, especially for someone who can't shoot.

Our own little Ricky Rubio.
