Except ALL of our good players will be well under 25 and we would have the cap room to add a final piece. We are still likely to get a top 8 pick this year anyway because of the atrocious start we had which should at worst be an Aaron Gordon. Burke is killing it for a Rookie point (he is rating out better than Deron as a Rookie), to think he is not just going to improve is beyond silly.

It's not even close on defense and until he shows me he is not a black hole for a significant stretch of games, I'll take favors limited but high bbiq offense any day.
 
When I the of Kanter I think of Anderson Varejo, Nene, Luis Scola. Could start for some teams, better off the bench against other teams 2nd units. Role player.

He is getting more and more comfortable with the layups and shots that Boler call "Houdini". Last game, aside from his 8 points that came from 100% FT shooting, most of his points were like that if I recall correctly.

This guy has an amazing shot switch ability. He doesn't lose balance. It's like he does it better than he shoots FT's sometimes. If his mid-range becomes automatic, you have a Michael Jordan type attacker in your hands. Now don't start. Not Michael Jordan. Only his type of offense.

Agreed except those other players are not 21 years old without any college experience, plus a lockout season, plus not getting significant time in their careers
 
One thing I noticed about the burks highlight video is that a lot of his shots came right at the end of the shot clock which forced him to have to shoot and bail out the jazz.....not a lot of plays being ran specifically for burks. Mostly the jazz were trying to run stuff for other guys and then when the shot clock was running out they just gave it to burks and had him get a bucket. Very impressive.

Shot #1: 5 seconds on the clock
Shot #2: a fast break
Shot #3: 8 seconds on the clock
Shot #4: 3.5 seconds on the clock
Shot #5: 2 seconds on the clock
Shot #6: fast break
Shot #7: 10 seconds on the clock
Shot #8: 6 seconds on the clock
Shot #9: 9 seconds on the clock
Shot #10: 7 seconds on the clock
Shot #11: 4 seconds on the clock

So he didn't just come down and ball hog by taking a bad shot early in the shot clock (the anti cj miles). Only one I remember is when he took a 3 point shot early in the shot clock that went in and out of the basket and on that one he was just too wide open not to take it..... and then got chewed out by corbin for it anyway.

1. There are plenty that don't give a **** about Aaron Gordon, including me.
2. If he goes top-7, that's not top-8. If the Jazz finish "better" than that (which is entirely possible if they keep playing .500 [or better] ball) he's especially out of the picture then. While there is the possibility that someone is better as a pro than as a collegiate player, that's a bad bet. In my amateur and pretty naive opinion, there is a HUGE dropoff after 6. And that's assuming EVERYBODY in that top-6 declare (which I can see one not declaring).

Where do the Jazz find the missing piece? Let's bear in mind that this is the team whose key improvements came after playing Marvin Williams out of position and a rookie not-that-athletic-or-big PG (that I love).

- Alec was amazing! The raw numbers as well as the advanced stats speak for themselves.
- Hate to see Gordon sit out b2b games.
- Treys USG% was a actually a little low for my taste but it is ok I guess, escpecialy when Alec is having such a great game but nonetheless he was efficient and shared the ball.
- Loved to see his REB% going up again and finay an AST for one of the big fellows.
- Enes looked good to me during the game but his negative ORtg overweight his not that bad DRtg, still a negative Faktor in the game.
- Props to RJ for the high eFG% once again, and I love the low USG% from him and Marv.

FYI Enes and Derrick were on the court together for a good 9 MIN but the team did really bad during this time(OffRtg: 103.3, DefRtg: 148.2, NetRtg: -44.8). Really hope that they will do better next time.

Your wish for perfectly consistent USG% every single game is one of the most puzzling desires I've read here, and that's saying a lot.

Ya beasting is a bit strong for his last five games.

Probably more accurate to say that kanter has played quite will recently and has outplayed marvin.

Getting a top 5 pick was ALWAYS dependent on one or more of our youngs being a bust. That isn't likely now. Having a stable of promising yet proven youngs, cap space, and multiple draft picks is a pretty good place to be in. We are going to add another asset at the very least this year. In order for that to be Parker of Wiggins you would have to fire sale our existing young players for a CHANCE at getting one of those two. That would be stupid because then we would have a POSSIBLE star and nothing around him. With our situation we are the probably the ONLY team that can offer all of promising players, cap relief and draft picks in return for a disgruntled "star." We can do that and still have value left on the team. If you are the Knicks and wanted to be rid of Carmelo, who are you going to call? (I would hope the Jazz would laugh and hang up) but you get the picture. . .

There are SIX extremely nice prospects, potentially. I don't think you have to gut the team to get in position, UNLESS the Jazz don't take some measures to put the team in a losing position SOON. Trading Marv and RJ nets you a few more losses, easily. Trading Hayward as well will net you whatever return you get in the trade itself in addition to likely more losses (unless the return you get in the trade is a real franchise player, which is unlikely because I don't know who the hell that would be).

Trust me, I don't like the arguments I've been making since November. But in trying to be a realist, it seems obvious to me that eating **** on occasion is a key ingredient to building lasting success (at least/especially when you reside in one of the smallest markets in pro sports that has disgusting winters).

To reiterate, trading Marv and RJ does nothing to harm your longterm prospects, even if it's for nothing. Considering the ****fest in the East and the glut of good teams in the West sets the table for the Jazz to not even be that terrible and still be in the hunt. There are plenty of things they can do that don't gut the team of the Croe 4-7 (like play Kanter and Favors together).
