What's new

Jazz VS Spurs @ 8:30 on Root Sports, ESPN 1280 AM/ 97.5 FM

So we still don't play until Wednesday and yet we already have a game thread that is about a day old.

I'm going to say it is good ball movement because Al was either not playing or his touches were limited as the reason why this thread was created so early.

That might be a pretty big can of worms that you have opened.

Just so you would ask that question... plus i think this game deserves discussion. if we can beat spurs at home i will feel like we have improved from last year.

Spurs have won 21 of their last 22 road games when they bring all their players to the game

The Utah Jazz now ranks 29th in the NBA in defensive rebounding

Going down because Favours has been out? Or is this a bigger issue?

Locke has been saying for some time that the wings suck at getting boards.

This.

I think our best rebounder at the wing postition is also leading the team in dnp's

And i aint talkin about murphy

I think part of the rebounding problem could be because the Jazz are trying to get out and run, so some players are breaking out a bit to soon leaving only bigs to rebound, that and both Millsap and Jefferson seem to be having issues so far this season. Well heck even Kanter and Favors aren't rebounding at as of a high rate as last year.

The rebounding problem is not just up to big men but whole team. I agree with the rest that back court guys gotta help front court players but it's also about defensive scheme. If the opponent team is playing high pick N roll from the top and one of your big men show up for it, your guards gotta make the rotation well enough to chase rebounding. As i see in last matches, all long rebounds go to the teams on offense. Also it's pretty surprising to hear we are 29th in defensive rebounding by looking at our roster. Not just our big men, but all players at the team are capable to rebound above the average in the league.
