Jazz will take Brandon Knight at #3

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I have seen the offspring of Box and Cyclo ..

So hot. Has my eyes.

If the worst-case scenario with drafting Kanter is keeping him and the best case is tradin him to get your guy and other pieces, you do it. The Jazz have complete control about what gets out there and I think it's dumb that they're not sending the signal that Kanter is their man.

It does if they want to start from scratch and start over. I am a big Harris fan and he is better then both those players. I just thing there is way too much smoke that they don't view him as the future pg on this team. Going to be interesting in the next week to see what happens. I think the jazz are going to see a lot of movement in this draft. They might want to get all their deals done before the lock out. I think they are looking for a pg like evans curry range to trade for but i don't think they will pull that kind of trade off.
You honestly think that adding an 18 year old point guard and a 22 year old who has never really played point guard at the same time is a good starting point for a rebuild? I think drafting both those guys would be disastrous, especially as we would have to watch all sorts of guys who could help us at positions we need get passed by.

I don't know how anyone can say Knight isn't athletic. He is lightning quick and has a pretty good vertical, all of that with very good PG size and strength. He just needs to add a little bit of mass and tighten his handle a bit.

Also, wasn't Cyclo the guy who just bashed Hawyard after he got picked and posted almost nothing else?

Totally agree. My guess is that they are doing exactly this behind the scenes. I hope we start hearing rumors within the next few days. I have nothing against Knight, but it's been disappointing to see him projected to the Jazz when they were at 6, then when they move up to 3 the only reward is that Knight moves up with them. If all we're going to get by winning the lottery is the same thing we were going to get before we won it, then what was all the lottery excitement about?

Knight is going to be a beast. We need to draft Hamilton too. Hamilton-Knight-Hayward would give us a deadly combo of 3 point shooters to free up space for our big men. It is really going to help Favors when he starts being able to dominate his opponents.

I agree that Knight is very athletic, but I do think that he needs to improve on some things so as to take advantage of his athleticism. For instance, he is very fast/quick, but last year it still seemed like he couldn't create space or get by his man easily for easy shots a la Rose/Paul. I think once he tightens up his handle and works on that explosive first step, which I don't see being a problem that he'll really be able to show off his athleticism.

The only question I have about his athleticism is the super low steals numbers. I read somewhere he has the lowest steals rate out of the top ten guards or something like that. If he is so fast why can't he get to the passing lanes? I've probably only seen one game of his, so this is just me wondering. I had always wished Deron could have the steals numbers that CP3 did. It was the only stat the CP3 totally owned over Deron.

Maybe he elects to stay home on his defender, which can be a good thing.

The book on fundamentally strong defense says not to jump the passing lanes. The best defensive teams in the NBA generally aren't the best at forcing turnovers.

It seems to me at times we're overanalyzing things. (But that's the fun, right?) In the end, the Jazz will probably do what most people have thought they'd do from the beginning, namely draft Knight at #3. That's my prediction, and I'm sticking with it (for now at least).

I am also predicting the Jazz don't draft Jimmer. I'm guessing they'll go big with the 12th pick of whoever is left of the Euro's or Biyombo.

Good call for some of you. I am copying this from another thread.

^^^ the only thing I would disagree with (actually more of a clarification) on the assessment of Knight is the steals category. Calipari never has players that are either steals or blocks juggernauts. This is because he doesn't like gambling on defense, just solid "d" and keep your man from scoring. He is always saying he thinks two of the most overrated stats in bb are steals and blocks .. constantly citing players that have gaudy numbers in one of those categories but are an overall defensive liability.

Ryan Feldman also says that the Cavs are the team highest on Kanter right now, and that they're hoping he's available at 4. It seems that it would be in the best interest of the Jazz if rumors indicated that their intentions were to draft Kanter, not Knight. I don't understand why the Jazz would want to take Knight at 3 (as opposed to 4 or 5 via trade), and even if they do want to take him at 3, I don't understand why there'd be rumors to that effect.

They brought both Kanter and Knight in for late workouts, to play together. That would indicate they are considering Kanter at #1 and Knight at 4. There is nothing to smoke screen either, they have the 1st pick and control the field. I don't think there is a good chance it will happen, Kanter and Knight would have to blow them away, but its possible.

Yes I agree - when I started watching NBA, I wondered why Oakley got selected to All-NBA defensive team when he had no blocks or steals. Apparently he stays on his man and boxed out for rebounds. We need to watch games to know if a player is good defensively or not.

If that's the case then KOC have done a masterful job - i.e., Cavs have no idea what Jazz will do 1) Knight 2) Kanter 3) Knight & Kanter.

- There is no doubt that Kanter is the BPA.
- For some weird reasons, all the mocks have Jazz picking Knight
- Now there's talk that Jazz could be trading up to get both Kanter & Knight
- Cavs have absolutely no clue who Jazz will pick & don't wanna risk being left with Valanciunus at #4

It would be a miracle if Jazz finally ended up with DWill_2 and Fredette - filling both BPA and our needs (starting SF, back up PG)

I'd take that.

I wonder if that's what KOC had wanted all along as well.
