Just started the divergent series

Going with The Stand first. The librarian is pretty cute and she was thoroughly insistent upon reading that one.

Getting through 'Scoop' first, however.

You're going to regret this decision. The Stand is one of the very few King books I'll never read again.

I can't bring myself to finish Duma Key; the zombie sailor really killed it for me. Started The Eyes of the Dragon two days ago. I had no idea it was essentially a kids fantasy book. I like it and honk I'm going to start over and read it with my six year old.

I think the stand is good..... but super long.

Duma key, was forgettable

Eyes of the dragon is about the most unkinglike book i ever read.

@ LazyD

If life has taught anyone anything, let the mouth breather make a decision and then do the opposite. The Stand was a fantastic book albeit long as Fish stated. I enjoyed it thoroughly and remember not being able to put it down.

If we are listing King books from best, or most favorite, to worst, or least favorite, mine goes like this:

1. The Dead Zone
2. The Shining
3. The Gunslinger (the first in the series)
4. The Green Mile
5. Misery
6. The Stand
7. Thinner
8. Pet Sematary
9. Salem's Lot
10. Carrie

That is just off the top of my head of what I enjoyed the most and read and re-read. Somewhere on this list should also be "It", "Eyes of the Dragon", "The Talisman", "Cycle of the Werewolf", and the other Dark Tower novels, although none of them captured the magic the way the first one did. Makes me think a little of the Matrix in that way.

King books I just didn't care for. I'm not going to say hated, because he is always entertaining, but these just weren't up to par, IMO. In order from least to most crappy:

10. Delores Clairborne
9. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
8. Gerald's Game
7. Cujo
6. The Mist
5. Needful Things
4. Duma Key
3. Cell
2. Dreamcatcher
1. Under the Dome

The last 3 are the only King books I would say were pure garbage. He seriously phoned it in on those.

Sweet deal!

I think I'm going to go after Dead Zone and The Shining once I'm through with The Stand, which should be sometime next year judging by poster reaction.

I want you to read Cell first so i can see what you think.

Log and trout both dislike it and it is my favorite book by king and would make a great movie...... and is actually set to be released as movie this year i believ with a pretty damn good cast set up for the movie too
Samuel L Jackson and John Cusack for the main roles.... looks like sam jackson will probably be playing the main villan

Edit: the movie will come out next year

The Stand is the best King book, hands down.

*The Stand is the only King book I've read doe, but it's one of my favorite books ever*

Hey! SOMEONE READ THE LUMINARIES LIKE I ASKED YOU ********. I'm on page 459 and need to talk about it. ****'s getting cray.

I think I might buy this book-- the problem is, I'm a 3rd year Undergrad, and I SERIOUSLY never have time to read.

But I will buy it!!! I've kinda followed it since it's release. It seems super, super cool :)

I usually read before I go to sleep. It winds me down and makes me tired. Usually after 30 minutes of reading in bed I'm almost asleep. Can't do any studying for school past 10 pm because my brain shuts down.

Im about 1/4 of the way through divergent and after reading all of the hunger games, 6 of the wheel of time, the host, the first twighlight, and 4 harry potters, i think i have learned that i like more adult oriented content. More violence mainly

I usually fall asleep within 5 minutes of plopping myself onto my bed, so the reading part isn't usually required. I do like the idea though-- it's just that I usually spend the 20 minutes before I go to bed just practicing on my guitar (I'm awful), so maybe I'd have to replace that with reading.

Btw, for anyone who likes sci fi mystery stuff..... i highly recommend the wayward pines series by blake crouch.
Amazing story and make sure not to read any reviews with spoilers.

I like most books by blake crouch..... my favorite of his books is called Run. (Reminds me of stephen kings cell)
