Jeff Van Gundy Slams Utah on ESPN...

And why shouldn't we flop? If we don't flop, will that stop the rest of the league from flopping? That's why the refs are there, this isn't pickup ball where you call your own fouls, and MILLIONS are on the line.

I would rather not be the worst flopping team, but if you don't play the game you lose.

Last night while watching the Lakers/Celtics game, I heard one of the nastiest jabs at Utah that I have heard in years. Jeff Van Gundy was talking about Howard playing Jason Collins, and how Collins flops. Then he proceeded to say something along the lines of "If you were part of the Utah Jazz, flopping is in your blood), in reference to Jason Collins somehow being known as a flopper. First off, JASON Collins never played for Utah, though his brother Jarron Collins did. Jarron is retired from the NBA. Second we get called for more fouls typically than almost anyone in the league. Seems to me we are mostly the anti-floppers (with the exception of Raja, who is still on our roster). We were nowhere near the top floppers, which could be the Spurs, Suns, Mavericks or Heat (Think Dwayne Wade, Manu Ginobli, Dirk Nowitzki, etc.). Seems to me that this unprofession jab at Utah shows his deep hatred of Utah, who used to regularly thump his Houston team. In my own opinion, that was the most unprofessional behavior I have seen on ESPN in a long time, and that says a lot. Utah was not even in the conversation at the time, he just pulled that disgusting nugget out of his rear end!

Lets get all the fans in the arena next time he is here with ESPN/TNT covering a game, and remind him why we are the best fans. Lets let this cretin never live those comments down! Anyone else with me? What do you think of this behavior and comments?

Ummm... you say you've been a Jazz fan since '83 and you get offended when someone claims the Jazz are floppers? Guess what? The Jazz were floppers. Malone flopped. Horny flopped. Collins loved flopping and so did Stockton and Harpring.

Van Gundy is just bitter because he lost a Game 7 at home and then he got fired. The thing that got me upset is that TNT hired him the next week and he and Mark Jackson were on the call for the Jazz/ Warriors series (Mark Jackson=Bitter Enemy of the Jazz. If you don't know why go to the Jazz Fanatical blog.)

Oh boy. John and Karl practically invented flopping. Get over it.

...good points, all of them!

lol...he's 100% right. Harpring and AK flopped throughout the series against Houston.

I always chuckle when Harpring goes off about flopping during a broadcast because he was one of the worst floppers in the league when he played.

Did JVG mention Battier and Scola when he was going off about the Jazz and flopping? If it's so bad I'm sure JVG must have told them to knock it off.

Who cares what Van Gundy thinks? He whined when he coached and never won anything. Sounds like sour grapes. ESPN has always ignored or bashed Utah. So this shouldn't be a surprise.

You are that fired up over that one comment? Damn, son. It's not that big of a deal. I mean, he's wrong, but who cares? And it's not the worst thing that has ever been said about the Jazz. I'm sure there's been much worse at some point since the 70s.

No this is the worst thing. It is a big deal. Because of the unfair reputation, the Utah Jazz got the worst deal from the refs of any team ever in the history of the game. They'd have a few championships if this wasn't the case.

Flopping is so low that even when Aşık or Kanter does it I hate them. Any player who flops should be banned for a couple of games and lose money. The youngs of the Jazz will not be a flopping team hopefully. They are hard asses.

On the Lakers-Mavs broadcast on ABC, JVG talking about the standings: Lakers can't catch the Rockets, they score too much. Now Utah, they have a tough upcoming schedule, LA can get them.
