Well, Aint, the problem is that it is difficult to fill a team with players who have self-motivation and/or are already developed/mature/into the team concept. IMHO, what makes a great coach is one who can do that. How much credit should a coach get for being able to integrate players who are low maintenance?
That being said, kudos to Sloan for having a reputation to lure players such as AJ and Bell (for a second time). But speaking of candyass, he didn't insist on Boozer or Okur playing defense, and I don't see anything impressive about the rate that he developed the likes of CJ and Fes. Development is a partnership between coach and player, but the coaches have to do their parts. Add to that the numerous alienations that Sloan has racked up (Giri, AK, Meech, Arroyo, etc.) an Sloan is a big meh in that human relations department, too.
