That said, I don't dislike Knight, he brings plenty to the table and he's only 18. I think Jimmer is the better value and that his basement is much higher, but Knight has a higher ceiling and is further along than Jimmer at the same age.

Length + Height > Size when it comes to a PG.
 
I like Jimmer and Reggie Jackson as PG picks at #12. Both are mature, dead eye three point shooters. Jackson is a late bloomer but that 7' wingspan would make me feel very comfortable about his chances to guard NBA point guards.

The top teams would. I must assume you think Kawhi Leonard shouldn't be drafted until 20-30 either.
 
I couldn't tell you if the draft couldn't come soon enough (so we can stop this asinine discussion), or if it's infinitely far away (in the fear that Jo Bro gets drafted and the asinine discussion never ends).

I just want assurance that there will be a forum for Jimmer threads if he ends up going to the Jazz,

That's one thing I have not thought of, how this place will go bonkers on the discussion of Jimmer if he's on the Jazz. Hell, if he is drafted by another team and plays well, this place will go nuts.

Who cares what conference they play in. They all play in the tournament against all teams if they are good enough. It matters the player not the conference they play in...
 
Pure shooting ability has to rank up there with any of the other measures of ability and athleticism. I do not follow the other players at all, but I doubt any have the shooting finess that jimmer has. Sure, guys can work on it and get better, but how many go from decent in college to outstanding in the NBA at shooting? Not many. Now his athletic gifts look better than some figured, draft Jimmer: the Jazz are desperate for more shooters. Even if he turns out to be just another Barrea or Korver, that ain't bad and something the jazz need.
 
I'm curious, as great as Jimmer was, his three point numbers are nothing special at all. How do we think his skills will translate in a more structured NBA offense where he has to catch and shoot or is set, ala Korver?

My prediction: Jimmer will be outstanding at catch & shoot 3 pointers. I'm sure if you could separate out those types of 3 pointers from last year he would have been around 50%. The reason why his overall 3 pt percentage was not at the top of the NCAA is because of all of the "crazy" 3 pointers he took. (Which weren't that bad for his BYU team, because they still had a reasonable shot at landing and his team needed points.)
 
I really hope we pass on Jimmer in favor of a guy like Chris Singleton, Motiejunas, Marshon Brooks or Alec Burks. If all four of those guys are gone, then I supposed I'd be okay with Jimmer. But just okay!
 
Did someone really try and argue that the MWC is better than the SEC - in any sport on the planet? Wow. A few good teams do not make a strong conference folks. The zealots are outdoing themselves.

As for Jimmer's shooting, you can keep bashing me but the numbers don't lie. Compare his shooting percentage in college to Ray Allen and Kyle Korver. Over 4 years it is no contest. His range is insane but his percentage leaves a lot to be desired IF drafting someone because of his shooting ability. If you draft at his percentages it should be because of his all around game. Granted, his shot selection this year was at times horrific which contributes to the average %. Somehow that does not make me feel better about drafting him.

I agree with the guys in bold.
 
I think Jimmer has a lot of potential by focusing on his PG skills. He had to do everything in college and I could see him focusing on just being a point guard and having a lot of potential to improve at that position. TNT announcers compared him to Steve Nash. Nash came out of college as a scoring guard and focused on developing his point guard skills. He also benched 185 14 times, that's as many as Favors.
