What's new

Jimmy Butler

But LBJ PPG is way higher than Favors'. 6.2 STD for 16 PPG is huge. Obviously, the higher your point average, the higher your standard deviation will be. Doing a quick Google search, it appears that for players getting starter minutes, an STD of 4 would put you around the 50th percentile. Favors' -6 would put him closer to the edge of the normal distribution. And this isn't taking into account the strange lower back injury that he always seems to suffer from, and that might prove more of a determent in the future.

ask yourself how many points Derrick could put up with PGs not named Burke, Neto, or Mack.

Damn bruh, who the **** abbreviates standard deviation as STD?

Can you imagine if we actually traded for Butler? The celebration would be epic.

I can somehow feel a 'big move' coming from DL this offseason... the way they're saying this team is nearly finished with 'rebuilding' gives me confidence we're moving in a different direction next year.

Yeah I've pretty much always thought this would be the year we make some big moves.

IMO, the package starts with Hayward. Is Hayward and Favors too steep (and would their cap allow it? I'm short on time)? In that case, could we ask for a pick or Portis?

Why would you trade Hayward and Favors for Jimmy Butler? Jesus Christ that would be an awful trade for us.

Because he's under contract and plays with more fire than the both of them combined. Because Favors and Gobert together is still something of a question in the aggregate.

I'm for getting Butler, but I wouldn't give up Hayward/Favors/Gobert for him at all. No lateral moves please. Favors and Hayward for Butler is a huge step backwards. Hayward + picks for Butler would be a lateral move at best.

If the Bulls want to chase a full rebuild, we can give them young guys on rookie contracts and draft picks.

I think he said we could ask for a pick or portis too.
You like portis no?

Like I said, I have no clue how to tell on this one but he seems more consistent to me than everyone else. He seemed to be the only guy I thought we could count on on any given night.

I just ran Hayward's numbers and he is 6.022821183 and 2.41062103. That guy seems very inconsistent to me but those numbers don't say so. I think a better way may be to count how many games they are below their standard deviation. Hayward had 12 @ 13 points or less plus two DNP's. Favors had only 6 @ 10 points or less and 20 DNP's. However, he also had 13 within 2 points of his n-1 where Hayward only had 4. That's about the same % of games within 2/3 of the low end of n-1 not counting DNP's.

I'm not sure it's the best way or good at all but I would like at the % deviation. Favors 6.18 based off of his 16.4 ppg is a 37.6% deviation. Hayward's is far less at 30.57%. Lebron's is just a 23.62% deviation, far, far less than Favors which you originally thought was similar.

You coughed when I suggested offering a package surrounding Hood for Butler.

I like him but they are going to ask for all star value/potential in return, we'd probably have to give up a Hayward+Gobert+picks. I'd be surprised if they let us keep Gobert

Think that's asking too much well Butler is a two time all star who is just hitting his prime. No one on the jazz has hit that level yet.

Don't think we can move Hayward in a deal for him, we'd just wind up in that only one perimeter creator spot again (love Rodney, but he's doing it for himself right now, not getting the team involved). And all our little pieces don't add up I don't think (unless they are way high on Exum, which I doubt). So that leaves either Gobert or Favors to center the deal around. Maybe, but I really don't know what else Chicago would want to go with them.

The reason I don't like this line of reasoning is because plays are called for LeBron every night. Plays are called for Hayward every nigh. Few plays are called for Favors every night.
