John Callipari likened Enes Kanter as "a Karl Malone-ish kind of guy"

Can Kanter speak like Malone? Can Kanter do this?!

He has played pro ball since he was what, 16? That is good credentials. He must have played against some pro talent older than college kids in Europe.

He played almost no minutes in Turkish League that is not that great. How is that "good credentials." It's not like he was a good player and proved anything at all. Just being on a roster does not prove anything. AK47, on the other hand, was recognized as best player in Europe when he was 16, and even he didn't exactly have Malone-like career.

How would Kanter busting hurt Callipari's credibility? The guy is a college coach, whose specialty is preparing top prep talent for the NBA. If Kanter ends up being picked 1 or 2, regardless of how he turns out, more top prep players are going to want to play for Callipari because they'll know that he's working for them and their future. For that reason, I put no stock in Callipari's saying here. It's completely self serving.

Coach Cal do something self-serving? No way.

I'm curious how much of that had to do with the "bad blood" that he mentioned in an interview. He said he came over here as "soon as he could" basically. Sounds to me that maybe he didn't get along with his coach or team owner and they benched him so he left to join the NCAA. I'm not saying that's what happened, but it does seem to make sense.

Malone was a bruiser. Every video I've seen of Kanter he looks scared of contact...don't get the comparison at all.

One of reports I read had a quote from either a coach or a player that said he preferred more contact. Maybe the stuff you saw had him in foul trouble so he was avoiding contact because he knows it gets him in trouble?

My thoughts exactly. Jazz have AK off the books this past season, Okur off the books this coming season and Jefferson/Harris/Millsap coming off the books the season after. That's about 65 million dollars in cap space and expiring contracts. My guess is at least 3 of those 5 players won't be re-signing - quite possibly none of them. In other words, 3 years from now this team will most likely be be Hayward, Favors and about a dozen questions marks.

To fill a present need is short sighted franchise suicide. Forget about what the team looks like today - Jazz should be all about acquiring the best assets.

I've come to the same conclusion in my KW vs BK thread. They shouldn't be rushing to replace Deron and make a mistake by drafting a guy over someone more talented. We're in no hurry anymore. Unless we want to win a championship for KOC, there's no pending retirement, etc. We can take our time and get the BPA and build through the draft while filling in the missing pieces with smart trades.

I'm on draft Enes bandwagon but I will say that if you really take what that a** says about anybody or anything either you have no idea about that son of *****s past or you are dumb. Calipari should not even be coaching in NCAA. He is a disgrace for coaching.
