Jonas v Enes

According to Ryen Russilo on the ESPN NBA Today Podcast

Jonas V never takes a jumpshot. He sets poor screens and then rolls to the hoop. If they ball is passed to him he tries to dunk it. Plays defense with his hands and arms and not his feet. Doesn't look like a good prospect according to Russilo.

Do you know the date of the podcast? I think I'd like to listen to it.

Enes is incomparably better than any other international player this year. Valanciunas can score 18 ppg in his best year in his career but Enes can go all the way down to 25.

And he dominated Valanciunas when they played against eachother in european youth championships.

Enes had this stats in U16 n U18 european basket championships a few yrs ago.

U16: 22.9 ppg 16.5 rpg
U18: 19.1 ppg 14.5 rpg aprrox. in 28-30 mins
And he generally had better numbers against better players.
In nike summit played against Sullinger, 34 points,
Against Dejan musli in euro cup, 32 point 25 reb
Against Jonas Valanciunas 35 points 19 reb

Enes just made a wrong decision to go to ncaa knowing he will be ineligible, he passed his last year without a single professional game

Noone knows what future will bring but if we are talking about potential i wont compare Enes to anyone else in this years draft.

Good to hear your comments - I really like your views since you've seen him the most. When I initially started studying the prospects I was most impressed with Kanter and Barnes (I never really considered Irving since he was consensus 1st pick and I don't want to spend that pick on a PG). Then after the impressive play of Dwill2 in the NCAA tourney I liked him too.

Don't know where the Jazz will pick but my first choice would be one of these 3. If one of them falls to the Jazz I'll be thrilled.

only problem Kanter has is his mentality, he is just a kid, and he doesnt seem to have a personal coach who can guide him, his dad is surgeon so he basically doesnt care if he plays basketball or not. So thats why he spent his last year without playing which it was pretty obvious he will be eligible in ncaa. But he rejected those astronomical offers from european teams, like 16 million a 5 yr deal. Its rare among even star players in europe, but the good thing is he basically seems to focus himself to play in nba and chase after his dream. He has all the tools and talent to be superstar, but we will see how he will develop himself.

Derrick williams seems good, but im always biased against players who is stuck between 3 and 4. They struggle when they go to nba. The first three pick will be probably, barnes dwill2 and irving. But thanks to washington and sacramento today, we may still fall to 6 which means, we cant find any better than Enes at that position.
And im not even sure if enes will fall to 6 with perry jones gone. We may even end up getting brandon knight

Yeah, that was my problem with Dwill2 as well. His tweener status I mean. But he's good at the outside shot so I thought maybe the people saying he could play the 3 were correct. Still, it looks like it will be an adjustment for him. I did like the will he played with though.

You say Kanter's weakness is his mentality? he doesn't really care if he plays basketball or not? But he turned down 16 million he could've had in Euro league so he could chase after his dream -- and that dream is to play in the NBA?

I hope we can draft Kanter or Barnes. Hope the ping pong balls are good to us.

I ment , his dad, he is kinda busy guy so he doesnt really give enough time to help him make decision as i see. But im sure in time he will not have this problem as getting mature.

Actually we have pretty good chance to win the lottery, at least not worse than washington or sacramento, i hope we will win

Sepanol - what's your draft board look like?

I mean, you've seen Kanter more than a lot of us so is he at the top of your board? Over Irving, Dwill2, Barnes, etc?

Honestly for Utah jazz, i would say Irving, becuz we urgently need a pg, but if u talk about the quality/potential, for me Enes is at least as good as Barnes and Irving. Dwill can be an allstar imo, but the other 3 guys have more ceiling. And i have barely seen a big man with such fundamentals as Enes, after Tim Duncan. If i should compare,
Enes is like more offensive less defensive Duncan
Irving is Chris Paul
Barnes is Carmelo

you choose which one you would like to set ur team around

Also In this draft many people say its weak, but i see 3 super star potential, and a couple of guys who can be really important pieces in a good team like K.Leonard, B.Knight or Valanciunas. It will be not worse than the draft which Bargnani was 1st pick. Only bad thing for jazz is, after Perry jones and sullinger withdrawn we dont have a chance to pick a really good player if we cant win the lottery.
I think we should make a trade to move up to get one of those 3 no matter what like we did in Deron williams draft.

If Minnesota wins the lottery they may be open to trading the pick as Rubio is coming over next year to play PG for them. It would probably take 6, 12, and the rights to Tomic to get him. I know Minnesota scouts were checking out Tomic in Spain recently at a playoff game so there is probably interest there.

You're probably right I just checked his progress and he has been awful for Regal Barcelona this year. 30% from the field and assist numbers are down. Bustola

Not sure a guy who was not played in the nba can be a bust. Most think he will be better in the nba, but yes if they draft irving they will almost certainly trade him.

guys statistics in europe can be misleading, they play 40 min pg, and most teams focus on defense much more than nba teams, so 30% isnt as bad as it seems. Rubios only weakness is his shooting, if he improves shooting he will be a killer in nba.

and we wont lose much by losing Tomic for sure. I hope the KOC may find some solution like in d wills draft. This draft is very critical for us. While everyone thinks its a weak draft we should take advantage and get the best out of it

I loves me some Bismack Biyambo. I don't think Ben Wallace is a good comparison. Ben was taller and much thicker.

I think a better comparison to Bismack is Serge Ibaka. He too comes from an African nation (same one if I'm not mistaken. Aren't they both from the Congo?), very young, has a developing post game, excellent shotblocker, and can jump out of the gym.

We don't need him to turn into Duncan or Malone offensively.

You just can't teach size, jumping ability, and long arms folks. Draft him. We can never have too little size.

I seriously wonder if Kanter has the athleticism to compete in the NBA. We surely don't want another Kosta... To think, we could have had Ibaka right now instead of jackpotting around with Kosta. We're already developing the best frontline in the NBA. Might as well keep stockpiling these guys. We can find shooters and point guards any day. But finding good athletic big men is a lot harder to come by.

Wow!

Certainly looks big and athletic to me. You can never have too much size and athleticism. Heck, we might not even need a shooter with Bismack, Evans, and Favors running around. Dunks and alley-oops all game long..

Ben Wallace is 6'9" 240 lbs. His fro made him look bigger.
Biyombo compares well to Wallace and is a bit quicker and more natural offensively.

Ben is INSANELY strong though. I remember reading articles about how much the guy could lift, just ridiculous numbers. I dont remember what Ben looked like when he was 18 though, so the comparisons may not be off.
