Jonas Waived

Diaw? Dirk? Andyoure comparing them to Bradley? Or just their lack of explosion? I’m just not seeing how this improves the argument when they’re completely different positions and skill sets.

Duncan, Diaw, and Dirk when younger were far more explosive than what you seem to be referring to right now. Plus, their skill sets were lightyears ahead of Bradley.

I think you’re grasping at straws in an attempt to somehow bolster Bradley. He’s a center without a jump shot or ballhandling skills who doesn’t have the athleticism to play in the nba.
He can handle the ball.

Bradley can’t shoot. He doesn’t have range outside the paint.
The coaching staff feels like he has good shooting touch and can develop a good shot with his soft touch. Again, I dont watch him enough to know but that is what the team has been saying since we drafted him. But you are right he doesnt have one know it seems like.

I like Jerebko and liked what he brought from the end of the bench. But shouldnt we wait until we see what we do with his spot before being bothered? Not that I really mind the Jazz looking at other players for the end of the bench roles. Even if it is just rotating through 10 day contracts for awhile.

How Swede it was having the Swish on the team! Good luck bringing some Viking Love to the Warriors. Go fight Demarcus, push the locker room self destruct button, injure your teammates in practice, and then come back. ;)

Hopefully this nets us a couple of good pieces.

Here’s the thing that chaps my ***:

We aren’t at the tax. Maybe we feel like Jonas was too much money, but he’s a great locker room guy and was a good soldier. We don’t have a real four besides Favors, let alone one that can stretch a bit. If it’s about using his roster spot for Niang, then that’s no beef with Niang. My beef is with the Bradley situation. Last year we waived Bolomboy and this year Jonas — two guys who can have roles and contribute. Instead we occupy a roster spot with Bradley who won’t/can’t get off the floor and who we can’t develop. If we had a redo at 2017 draft I may prefer to have taken Cash Considerations.

Maybe the MLE? Does this bring them low enough that a full MLE is still under the LT?

Thank you Jonas. You were a good asset that became expendable when your friend joined the team at the trade deadline last year.

Maybe Jerebko asked/said something. I think the same.

I'll never get your username.. haha..

Just the lack of explosion. That isnt a reason he cant become a good player.

I know very little about Bradley and have watched very little of him. I dont really care about him that much but just because he has a lack of explosion does not mean he cant be a good NBA player. Plenty of guys do it, especially when we are talking about bigs. A 7 foot guy with a 7'6" reach doesnt need to have huge explosion to be a good NBA player, but it would be nice to have both. But if he had both he probably would have been a lottery pick.

9 4.5 wingspan, no jump. He can play sparse 3rd center minutes in NBA. Kid can rebound great at his current level.

If Bertans shaved his head he could possibly pass for Billy Corgan.

The jazz front office have a plan...

For you cap people.... any chance we made a roster spot to offer Jabari Parker a mid level?

And I was very disappointed when I read the title of this thread. I really liked Jonas, I think he will be missed.

The most we can offer Jabari is the MLE.

Is $4m too much to pay for a guy who shoots 41% from 3's last year.

I think the plan is to open up a roster spot for Niang. Even if Lindsey doesn't, I find it unlikely the Jazz will sign anyone of substance. Utah was too close to the tax had they kept Jerebko and Udoh. Replacing Jerebko with a minimum salary player or leaving the roster spot open allows flexibility.

Besides, how was he going to get minutes? Jazz have Favors, Crowder and Thabo at the 4.

MLE will put us in tax. Only hope is a sign and trade if we really want anyone over 4.5 M. Could absorb someone on a trade exception just over 3 M I think. My bet is vacant roster spot. Pending mid season trade options.
