[Jones]BREAKING: Jazz willing to engage Celtics in S&T talks: But Gordon Hayward must agree

He probably doesn't trade Crowder in this S&T. He trades us Rozier, D Jackson + a trade exception.
I don't think that is enough to get them under. I read an article about how they have 5 guys on their roster they could flat out release, send one guy. To Europe and still not have enough space. Rozier and Jackson were on that list.

The process of clearing contracts and salary-cap space started Tuesday, when Boston renounced Kelly Olynyk. But even if the team renounced the rights to Jonas Jerebko, James Young and Gerald Green, waived Jordan Mickey, left 2016 first-round pick Guerschon Yabusele in Europe this season and traded Demetrius Jackson's partially guaranteed contract and Terry Rozier, Boston would have $29,444,533 to sign Hayward, which is still about $300,000 short of his max.
.

Sources indicated the C’s had discussed potential trades with several teams, and they were also looking at the possibility of a sign-and-trade with Utah that would involve Hayward and Crowder. There would be some cap benefits to the Celts in this latter scenario, but they would need to reap some asset(s) from the Jazz beyond simply clearing the proper space for their free agent prize.

Is his son the Republican nominee? If so Ainge could walk into Temple Square and shoot someone and it wouldn't change the outcome. Mormons are almost more loyal to the Republican party than to their own church, or at least they see them as two parts of a whole.

He's running against a bunch of republicans.

200 calls from Jazzfanz forum posters telling him to convince his dad to trade us Crowder should do the trick. ;)

I cringed a little bit but I did it (via email):

"I will vote for you IF you convince your dad to agree to a Gordon Hayward/Jae Crowder sign-and-trade straight up. No further raping of the Utah Jazz, our state team.

Boston needs to shed salary in order to sign Hayward anyway. Agree to a sign-and-trade without further raping our team = they get to shed salary, they get Hayward, AND they do your campaign a solid by throwing Utah a bone.

Your dad's reputation right now is one of being an unfair trade partner. This doesn't help your political career, but you are his son:

If you can use your political sway to pull this off for your constituents and represent us then, of course, you deserve and will get my vote.

Use whatever familial capital you have with your dad for the sake of the people you wish to represent."

Thanks and good luck,

Getting Crowder and a $24M trade exception for a first seems like a good idea to me.

I really, really don't want to part with a 1st, but I really, really want Crowder.

As much as I'm a stalwart for being championship-driven, the Jazz are just in a no-man's land between a rebuild and any actual hope of contending, so they might as well just shrug, grab every ****ing 3&D grinder they can, and just annoy the **** out of every team they face. I can get behind that.

It is likely about a half a dozen suitors, but he won't get full value... If I'm hayward and saying he we aren't getting full value... the Jazz offer is close enough how about you allow me to save some face here.

I really wish he would have done this for us before committing to us... would have taken some of the sting out of losing him.

"Committing to them", you mean. But I agree completely. Hayward could (and should) force this to save face a little, as long as the Utah offer isn't too far off the best offer.

Could we please stop using the word "rape" to describe things that are not rape? I'd rather allow everyone to just reflect and figure out why they shouldn't do it than explain why. Pretty self-evident.

Why do people keep thinking we have to give the C's anything. Besides they are trying to shed salary. They wouldn't want anything but a pick, and I see no reason why we have to do that.

Because the Celtics can probably move Crowder by trading him to a DIFFERENT team for a pick or picks. The Jazz won't get him for nothing... but them might get a discount.

He's one of three Republican nominees. It's the primary election that people have been talking about.

I still say a pair of 2nds.

Pivot up to top-20 protected 1st that conveys to two 2nds if the protection kicks in.

Pivot to one lottery-protected 1st that conveys to one 2nd if protection kicks in.

Final offer: one lottery-protected 1st that conveys to two 2nds if protection kicks in.
