What's new

July 7th, Summer League Game 1: Utah vs. Miami

I think we all interpreted it as you questioning Burke's killer instinct based on that play. What were you trying to say?

I was commenting on a single play. It showed me that his focus wasn't where it should have been. Maybe he was overthinking his first NBA game or maybe his missed shots were playing with his head, but a point guard is supposed to push any advantage he can. He missed it. I don't expect him to make that mistake again, unless of course he never corrects it because no one sees it.

I think you guys are acting like we can not criticize burke in this game.
I don't see people calling him a bust or saying that he sucks but if numb were to ask for a recap on how burke played IN THIS PARTICULAR GAME then you would have to say he looked pretty bad.
That's all..... no need to act like there are all these burke haters all of a sudden due to him getting criticized for one crappy game.
We are just talking about what we saw TODAY, not predicting his future based off today

I'm not taking notes on who said what but some have been pretty dumb. Scientifically speaking.

Yeah, I'm seriously pissed. Again, I guess it's my fault for thinking that a grown adult knows how time zones work.

I guess I didn't miss anything good, even though this is probably the only game I would've been able to see.
If you have NBATV channel then you can catch the replay or record them, granted I don't know which summer league games will be replayed but I did notice when setting them up to record that games are being replayed later.

I only caught the 4th quarter and that by accident. I thought it started later but figured I'd watch any games that may have been on before it. Glad I did. I did not see Burks play at all.

Gobert looks like he'll be able to block shots and defend. 3blks and only 2 fouls is pretty good. Varnado was the NCAA leading shot-blocker his senior year, and Gobert kept pace with him on a per 36 basis.

I didn't see the game, but it looks like Burke matched up some with Kabongo. Bongo was 0-4.

varnado is the all time block leader in ncaa history

i think they showing re-run on nba tv

if you have it

or if you can find a live stream of nba tv (shouldnt be hard)

So it's 2:26pm MT and the game is (pretty much) over? I guess I'm the idiot for not checking a real source.

I'm sorry you missed the game. No need to act like a complete *** about it though. No one failed to correctly mention the time.
I do my best from Germany. Talk about a time zone difference, but whatever you are pissed. It's not like you missed a great game
either. There are plenty more Summer League games coming.

Gobert is going to get minutes. His size alone changed 5+ shots.
Alec Burks looked like the best player on the floor.
Jeremy Evans is worthless.
Lloyd Christmas looked like he could be a Demarre type player.
Trey Burke looked a bit overwhelmed. The last 3 minutes of the game he looked like he knew what he was doing and took control over the game and won it.

i like how gobert covers on pick n roll

he even was able to trap kabongo at one point

pick n roll league its important to have mobile bigs

Numberica must not have a channel guide on his remote. When I woke up this a.m., I went to NBATV and scrolled across until I found the Jazz game listing and pressed record. It's really not that hard. In fact, I actually did some other chores and tuned in about 1/2 hour late. That way I could FF through the commercials and half-time. I often do the same at various points during Jazz games.

Most of you guys act like you've never watched a summer league game. Burke was fine.. holeeee ****.

If he isn't playing very well by the middle of the week, everyone neg me. Whiny bitches.

PKM, You should know this is an annual Jazzfanz tradition. People go all crazy over who the Jazz pick and they start bashing them as soon as they start playing in summer league. DW, Hayward, Burks, Kanter have all been torn apart at some time during SL. Some Jazz fans will want to trade Burke by the end of SL.. you just have to ignore them.

LOL He practically drove him into the coach's lap; those long arms smothering the passing lanes. And then he retreated quickly into the paint after the pass. Best P&R defense I've seen from a Jazz center since ... since ... never mind, it was the best I've seen from a Jazz center.

Greg Ostertag and Aleksandar Radojevic do not agree :D

when the pg becomes cp3 and the roll man is griffin and gobert is doing it i will agree

Watched the whole game.

Burke definitely looked lost for most of the game. First looking to dominate and score without running the offense. He penetrated with no where to go a few times and his shot was off, but he did get to the line. He looked lost defensively too, getting hung up on screens and losing his man. He played much better in the second half, looking to get into the offense, and the two dump off's everyone has mentioned were pro.

Gobert did well today. He altered a lot of shots, played some good D (although he got lost a few times), and had a killer put back dunk in the first half. We'll see how well he does for the rest of SL, but he may get off the bench this season, maybe.

Overall it was the first game and both teams looked like ****. I'm excited for the rest.
