What's new

Just when you thought Tomic talk was dead....

paul is a starter. kanter isn't even close to one yet.

You don't know that. What if Kanter makes significant improvement over the summer to the point where he is capable of being the starter? We did draft him #3 overall, after all. Do you really draft a player that high and not plan on giving him starter's minutes by his second season? From what I saw out of him last year, Enes has the potential to develop into a dominating center in the NBA. He has low post moves, defense, size, strength, athleticism, work-ethic, etc. And all of this from a guy who played exactly zero games in college and is just 20 years old. He is our center of the future and Favors is our power forward of the future. They could become our version of the "twin towers". As Paul gets older, I would expect him to shift into a sixth man-type role because bench players can't handle his offensive ability and he can score without other players setting him up. It doesn't really matter who starts anyway.

paul is a starter. he has been the jazz's best player for two straight seasons, and he has an elite-level PER (4th among power forwards) and he has gotten better -- both statistically and subjectively -- every single year.

kanter would have to have a HUUUUGE summer to even sniff a 30-mpg role. guy is still extremely raw at both ends of the basketball court. lots of promise, but he has a long way to go.

Kanter isn't a starter yet. I will be surprised if he is ready to be a starter at any point this upcoming season. Yes, it COULD happen, but the odds are he won't be. Hopefully he is ready to be playing 20 mpg.

How do you know kanter isn't? When has he ever gotten starting minutes?

By watching him last season. Not being able to finish around the rim consistently, not knowing the offense well enough, not being able to pass, not having enough confidence. Hopefully Kanter will be ready in 2 years, but don't like the only reason he wasn't starter quality last year because he wasn't given the minutes.

What ever happened to the other EURO we drafted at the same time? It seems like he came to play in summer league but was hurt and never played a minute. It seems like he was a 3 or a 2.

dragicevic isn't great. last year he averaged 7.7 points and 3.5 rebounds as the starting power forward for a german team in a crappy league. this year he's playing in italy and scoring more, but i don't think anybody is left who thinks he's got NBA talent.

Yeah, I remember him in the Summer League. I was bummed when he got hurt.
