Kanter traded to OKC

I would like to hear why you believe they are empty stats as what stated is not good enough. What is important is that he actually does get the points when he takes a shot as his defence is concerned he is just average and has continued to improve every year and seems to be targeted due to not getting enough blocks which is pointless as blocks tends to give the possession back to the opposing team and does not mean that the player is good at defence just because he gets blocks more often. If you watch him play he does go infront of opposing player and tries to make it more difficult which equate to missed shots. Most Jazz fans seem to forget they are rebuilding and are looking for a escape goat for losing when rebuilding which is insane. The reason he was pissed off and asked for a trade was because he wanted to continue to play and cited that he did not have an eye injury, which was the reason given to why he was subbed off. Also it is delusional to think he would not pass in Oklahoma due to the fact he did not in Utah as apart from Hayward is there any other options. I would like to see which player would be next in the firing line as people forget these are young players.. hopefully there would not be any other players mishandled as the team was slowly starting to gel.

First of all, "escape goat?"

He gets empty stats because the opposing teams philosophy, EVERY TIME HE IS ON THE FLOOR, is to pick and roll right at him which they do with good success. Keep in mind that when the Jazz were a poor defensive team, they singled out Enes Kanter as the weakest spot of our weak defense. On top of that, him being out of position let the other team score AND get position on offensive boards. Did you notice how Portland had only like 3 offensive boards the entire game on Friday? That is because we played sound P&R Defense and kept them off the hoop.

Block shots matter because people tend to stop shooting normally once they have been blocked. Rudy causes teams to shoot 37% at the rim because they fear him. If teams were dumb and tested Rudy all night he would have 10+ blocks. Teams having to shoot long jumpers tends to the other team winning more often.

Enes doesn't CHOOSE not to pass, Enes is too dense to know where to pass to. He has no awareness, which is why he can't pass, play help defense, and why he gets snuffed by the help defender.

Finally, Enes doesn't win games. Name one game where he put the team on his back and took us home. Even Trey Burke does that once in a while, Enes never has. He isn't a star, he is a role player and although he may improve around the edges, the deficiencies in his game are mental which will be very hard to overcome.

Enes Kanter last year had the 18th highest amount of assists in the NBA for a center. He was improving every year until this year since it is contract year and also he is playing Trey Burke who shoots at 37% FG and Dante Exum who shoots at 35%.

Does OKC already have a smarter version of Kanter in Mitch McGary?

I saw McGary last night and he looked like a smart player who really has the ability to pass. But, after i checked his stats I saw the worst passing Big in this leagues. Dude has just two assists the whole season. Maybe analytics just suck.

Yes, in Utah im sure McGray would steal away his minutes, even Ned Flanders would steal away minutes from Kanter playing here. It will be interesting how he will do in OKC and he has tough competition their.

Flanders would never steal Kanter's minutes becuase it is a sin to steal.

Why are you trolling Utah fans?
Because they fall for it. Kanter's not bad, but he's not great either. I don't think he's a long term starter and he actually would have looked good playing next to Gobert through the end of the season. Jazz took the easy way out. Considering the protections on the pick they get back, I'd have very much considered starting Gobert and Favors and just moving Kanter into the 3rd big role off the bench. Then see what your options are after RFA comes around. But I can see why they moved on. Just wish they would have cut a deal with an Eastern Conference team instead.

"18th highest amount of assists in the NBA for a center. . ." The hell? Who looks up that stat and feel like it is relevant? So, at best, he is just below average? I have watched enough Enes Kanter to know that he has no court vision. Maybe good passing bigs are rare, but it is something to help make up for just terrible defense. Seriously, he is exactly a poor man's Al Jefferson and will enjoy the limited success of Al Jefferson if any team chooses to make him a centerpiece, which is what he is demanding.

After emotions settled I can predict in 3 years with high probability this board and Jazz fans overall will be regretting letting Kanter go after he signs a reasonable offer sheet and steadily improves each year and his $13-15Mil per would be a great contract with the new cap.
It's just yet another **** you from the grave by Corbin. I can clearly see how Kanter's actions benefited him and how Lindsey dropped the ball managing assets.

I only regret that Kanter requested a trade instead of accepting a role as the 3rd big. Which he is going to be in OKC anyways.

Jazz signing Kanter to a big 13-15 mil deal means their backup PF-C would be making more than Favors/Gobert.
Jazz could not do that.
Gobert is Jazz starting C and he's only making 1.5 mil
Kanter would be making 8-10 times more than him and be the backup.
The team chemistry would be threatened to let a backup make more than most starters.

I wish they'd have gotten more, but his long-term health concerns makes me just fine with the trade. That's something that gets glossed over. His knee injury still bothers him. If anyone pays him big money, they may come to regret it not because he plays poorly, but because he can't get out on the court at all.

I'm okay with the Jazz not taking that risk. Should have just traded him for as much as possible when it became clear that Gobert and Favors could, in fact, play together.

Corbin's moved on. He's going to reach out from the other side to screw over Sacramento.

How many times do the guys below him touch the ball? Kanter's Assist ratio ranks 78 out of the 81 centers that average 10 min+ per game and have played in at least 20 games.

>Link< (Kanter is on the second page at the bottom)

Kanter's ast ratio is 3.7
Gobert's Ast ratio is 14.6

So it's kinda hard to blame it on his team

Edit: Assist ratio is the number of assists a player gets per 100 player possessions.

I only wish you would have posted before your emotions had settled.

I just cheked Kanters stat line today...

In 7 Minutes, 6 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assist

He started with already 2 assits :D

I already conceded Kanter assists are just plain terrible this year. Last year Kanters assist ratio was still bad but not unsalvageable bad.
