KD to GSW... I hate those guys

They will appreciate him, but he will never have the respect Stockton or Malone have here and they just went to one more Finals. Or be treated the same as Reggie in Indy. He has lost that opportunity to be a local hero.

I'm sure he will be consoled in his millions, likely championships and by the mentions he gets 20 years from now.

He won't be remembered as 'God' but he will be remembered as 'Great' ala how Minnesota is treating Kevin Garnett right now IMO.
If Durant returns to OKC, then yeah. But then again, Garnett was traded. Big difference.

He will make millions but fans crave loyalty over everything else. If you're a loyal star who stuck it out with no titles, you are respected more than a one title winner who was there for just a couple years. Name the marquee legends in any sport, and many of them are lifers who never won:
Reggie
Stock
Malone
Ryne Sandburg
Don Mattingly
Dan Marino
Tony Gwynn
Derrick Thomas
Barry Sanders
Ewing
Dominique
So many more.

Think Cleveland will adore Love of he leaves this summer or next the same way those guys are loved above?

I'm just so glad Clay Bennett got absolutely nothing out of this ... don't really care where Durant went, as long as he leave OKC.

Lets compare your list to this list

Barkley - left for new team
Drexler- left for new team
Kareem - left for new team(wanted trade)
Lebron - twice left for a new team
Karl Malone - left for new team to chase rings.
Shaq- twice left for new team(that mattered)
Kevin Garnett - left for new team(wanted trade
Ray Allen - left for new team(wanted trade)
Joe Montana

There are more examples. Thats just a few. It appears that leaving for a new team doesnt really hurt your legacy afterall. It actually enhances it when you start winning rings.

Who cares if he isnt a legend in OKC. Which he actually will be. I bet they retire his number in the end. But again. Who cares. He will just be a legend in Golden State, and all over the country. Being a legend in OKC isnt bigger than winning a lot of rings and being a part of one of the best teams ever. They may go down as the best ever when its all said and done. Also, Durant might have his best season ever with all this new space to work with. So look for that as well.

OKC fans haven't earned a ****ing thing. Now they'll have to learn how most fanbases feel most of the time. For that matter, maybe they should trade Westbrook and move back to Seattle. OKC can forever stay KD and Russ's city.

Some of those guys left after their prime (Malone, Montana, Allen). Shaq and Barkley are icons but don't have unconditional love from one community like my list. Sure they are loved, but they aren't a legend for a community. Garnett was traded and returned. LBJ returned. If Durant returns, he might be able to get that status. If he leaves for titles elsewhere and is done in OKC, there will be hard feelings

Haha.

Who cares about legend status for a community? Since when is that the highest priority? Shaq has as much respect as any other big star. His life is just fine. His legacy is just fine. In fact, his life is probably better because he joined the Lakers.

I think you are putting way too much stock in being a hero who never left the poor small market team. Its not even any kind of accomplishment. It can actually be considered a bad career move not doing what is best for your career.

Damnit Hack. That wasn't the initial point. I simply originally said he will no longer be a legend for that community. Read and don't annoy.

Reggie said he cherished what he did for Indy. Reggie is a legend in Indy. Durant will never have that in OKC. Its simple math. Even you can add that up

Lol

I know what you are saying. Im saying, who gives a rats *** if he isnt a legend in OKC.

Who cares how Reggie Miller feels either. He is a ringless dumb *** who would have been better off teaming up with a better player. Now he cant redo that. So he tells himself and others how nice it is knowing he was faithful to his original team. But really, deep down, he hates that he is ring less dumb *** who tried to play the hero. When he should have put his ego away and been smart. Now he will never know what its like to win a championship. Which is the greatest accomplishment in sports. Of course Reggie is saying what he is saying. But he is lying and just trying to make himself feel better about his career.

The entire press conference-love fest was disgusting.

GS might go from the most beloved to the most hated team in a single off-season.

Durant as the super villain.

It's hard to live in today's material based world being 'humble' and being 100% true to that ALL THE TIME...

Remember "You DA real MVP?" moment Durant had?

I don't neither.

I never liked Durant...and I liked the Warriors the past few seasons, now I feel like I have to hate them. It feels like they cheated the system, but they didn't.
Only hope for a non warriors title is injuries, or their thin bench actually becomes a problem in the finals...otherwise I don't see any team being able to beat them 5 out of 7 times

Bob Meyers sucking on KD's ******** in that press conference was nauseating.

durant - there is no short cut in this league. omg just shut up

I'm not sure how KD going to GS sucks for us. It gives us a chance to win the division. Sure, the Warriors will be tough to defeat for the forseeable future but we have the foundation of a team that matches up very well against them. If DL makes the right moves going forward then I'm not worried.
