What's new

Kendall Marshall - Our next PG Hope

1. What other attributes does he have? That's all I've heard is his smarts. Nothing else.

2. That's what was inferred.

3. Because the NBA is one quick game. Marshall's lack of a shot, inability to create, reluctance to score, and average athleticism are concerning. No evaluation that I've seen, whether it be on nbadraft.net or draftexpress, gives me confidence that these negatives outweigh his positives.

I think draftexpress has him being picked at #19 for a reason. Lets not waste our lotto pick for someone who deserves a late 1st round pick.

I'm sorry, but playmaking for NC needs to be taken into consideration... He's throwing the ball to Harrison Barnes. I could look pretty damn good playing PG for Carolina.

To me, I think I'd be more interested in Damien Lillard than Marshall. I know I know, he didn't play at that cool powder blue school, but he might be the better prospect. Better athletic ability, far better shot, good leader, solid floor general, unstoppable in the P&R, and has the potential to be an elite defender. Think Tony Parker.

God, where to begin.

I'm hearing the same old crap, from you, and have given you facts to back up my opinions to rebut yours. I hate to sound like a broken record, but I'll try to dumb it down for you since you either don't take anything I or anyone else says seriously or your just not getting what I'm saying, but I'm more then happy to do it. But right now I'm tired and want to go to bed. Sometime tomorrow or in the coming days you will have my full attention on the subject along with many others I'm sure.

Good night to all. Pleasant dreams.

I've only watched Kendall a little bit. I heard he has short arms and looking at him it certainly appears true.

This is the kind of thing that kills a player's ability to defend. There is a reason guys like Favors and D. Jordan are so hyped. Reach matters.

Of his offensive possessions last season, nearly 25% came in isolation situations, and although he lacks a great deal of explosiveness, he still manages to get by his man on a pretty regular basis. He uses a deceptive first step and excellent changes of pace and direction moves to get into the paint, where he's most comfortable kicking out to open shooters or dishing off for easy buckets, with the ability to get the ball there in a variety of ways.

DraftExpress: Whenever I watch Kyle Anderson & Kendall Marshall these days, I wonder how much the way Ricky Rubio is playing in the NBA now will help them

Need I remind everyone here who loves Ricky Rubio, the guy is shooting 36% from the field. Somehow I doubt Marshall would do much worse in terms of %.

Kendall Marshall seems to be making a much more concerted effort the past month or so to look for his own offense. Great sign for UNC.

I did the #'s and he is averaging 10 ppg on 41% shooting with 35% (from deep). Not bad. With 10 apg.

those running floaters are my favorite parts of this reel. It'll be interesting to see where he ranks on the draft boards once things get a bit more serious. I see a swag that the Jazz need.

Hopefully not too high. If we don't get to keep the gsw pick Phoenix could grab him at around the #11 pick seeing as they'll be needing a new pg once Nash leaves. Hornets could also grab him at around #13 pick depending on where Minny finishes.

First things first, he is going to drop 10 draft spots for using that terrible song. 2nd, he may be a better overall player than Jimmer but he is no where near the offensive player Jimmer was. 3rd, I wouldn't mind the Jazz taking him around 12.

Cool.

His passing and court vision are good.

But think of the negatives!

It's time for some jazz fans to break out of this conservative shell. And go with the BPA.

What else does Marshall do? Can he shoot? Can he score? Can he create? Can he rebound? Can he play the passing lanes? How well does he fight through screens? Can he play defense? How does he move his feet?

I'm sorry, but throwing lob passes to Harrison Barnes doesn't equate a GREAT PG.

Lets consider those "other" aspects of the game. And quite honestly, I don't think he's that impressive.

People keep bringing up Rondo... rondo has some unbelievable athleticism, toughness, length, and instinct for the game.

Comparing Marshall to Rondo is like comparing Kris Kardasian to Karl Malone. Just because they have.... maybe one single similarity (like the inability to shoot) doesn't mean they're similar at all.

And yet you continue. Yes, that's it. Marshall's getting nearly 10 assists per game via alley oops all game long.
