Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

With the Pistons getting Bradley, it doesn't look like they are going to try and sign Caldwell-Pope to a new deal. Is this somebody that the Jazz would have interest in?

I don't know much about him personally, so anybody with more knowledge about him want to share some insights?

It doesn't sound like we will be getting anything from Boston now, so what free-agency move can we still make to try and make up for some of Hayward's production?

We don't have the cap space to offer the amount he is likely looking for. He's a guard too. And we have Rubio, Hood, Mitchell and Exum all of whom we need to give substantial playing time to.

Does he play the 3? I think we're pretty loaded at the 2 now, no? Mitchell, Hood and Burks all vying for playing time.

KCP sucks.

Hood can play the 3
Mitchell is a combo guard as it Exum
Rubio cant shoot

Highlights:

-Great 3 point shooter.

-Pistons just renounced his right so he's UFA

-Nets/Knicks cap is tied up with offer sheets out

-Jazz are in a great position, probably overpay a bit to get him.

We don't have cap space. We can only clear up around 11 million. And even if he took that, who are we benching out of Rubio/Hood/Mitchell/Lyles so he can play? I wouldn't want to bench any of those guys. And I'd rather have cap room next summer than KCP now.

Here's the problem... he's not a great shooter... he's fine. Good defender and is a "wing" but not a power wing that can drop to the 4 if need be. Doesn't have the length.

He will get paid well and I'm just not sure he's worth it. If we got him in a sign and trade at 4/80 I'd be happy. We'd have to send JJ or similar salary back though. Unless we do a deal with Boston for the trade exception I am not sure he's gettable.

I'd rather get a 3/4 but not a lot of good young talent available. I am normally an add talent and figure it out, but I think we really need to be prudent and not just make a move because Hayward side swiped our plans.

Don't put anyone in front of Mitchell in the rotation. Let the kid play.

If Was matches Porter's offer sheet within the next 24 hours then Brooklyn probably outbids Utah . I don't think the jazz will be able to afford him. Assuming the Nets are interested.

I vote for Lyles to get benched.
