Kings Trade Cousins to the Pelicans

Fultz and Smith jr are praying for NOLA to win lottery to top 3.
Kings not so much.

Kings can't get #1 pick, since Sixers have swap rights. Fultz doesn't care at least.

Btw before naming Cousins + Davis the best frontcourt, I think Cousins needs to get his ego in check. Listening to the Lowe + Windhorst podcast right now and they're airing a little bit of dirty laundry on Cousins. Apparently threatened to fight Stauskas on a plane and rookie hazing went in a direction where restraining orders would be sanctioned in the real world.

Source familiar w/ Kings’ thinking: "Vivek thinks Buddy [Hield] has Steph Curry potential.” Am told that fixation was a key driver in deal

Too late. I already named them. No takebacks.

This is interesting. Davis was frustrated with the lack of talent in New Orleans. Now Cousins is joining him. That will be one excitign front court.

taking bets on how many games it'll be before Cousins scowls at a teammate on court and the whining begins ..

He will whine in his first game. But most NBA players, especially the stars, whine and complain every game of their careers. Nobody whined more than Duncan. The scowling/getting upset at teammates will happen but it will take a couple weeks I bet. But I think he will play much better in change of scenery but I also think there is a decent chance he leaves at the end of the year and goes else where.

I actually love this trade. New Orleans gets two super-stars and the Kings get out of a relationship that was obviously never going to work. They sold low as ****, but they get picks and I guess Hield could still turn into a solid player. The important part is they dont have Cousins and can move on.
They got far less for Cousins than Utah got for Deron. Shows what the value of attitude is in the NBA.

No, it shows what a ****ty FO was willing to jump at. This trade DOES NOT reflect the value that Cousins could have brought.

Or shows you the value in doing large transactions with the Nets LOL. The nets obviously didn't get what they were looking for with Deron, it's much more likely both of these teams will find what they're aiming for.

I'm not saying better, but more consistent. The Kings would beat the Warriors one night then lose to the Lakers. If Boogie decided to have a meltdown it really took the air out of the entire team. I've watched at least 10 Kings games this year, it's really bad when Boogie goes on one of his tirades.

Ok, then I agree. They will now lose consistently instead of looking good on some nights.

****ty FO, and I think the real value killer here was that he wouldn't commit to re-signing. Nobody wanted to gut their team for a guy that could leave in just over a year.

Agree with this, except he has one more year on his contract. Big gamble to keep him after that, though.

Damn.. would hate to be the Kings right now. Rather just crawl under the duvet for the next 3-4 years and come back out then.
