Korver?

Is there something I'm missing about trying to sign Brandon Rush? You're going to have to put some serious bucks on the table, and is anyone really suggesting we throw $5 million+ per year at... Brandon Rush?

You sure about that? I remember the year we signed Raja Bell, Anthony Morrow had just come off a better year than Rush had this year. They both played for the Warriors and they both shot insanely high % from deep. I think Morrow ended up getting a 4 year deal for 16 million and that was before the new CBA was in place.

If Korver is so good then why didnt we re-sign him last time?

Good point. But we were basically a different team then. Korver is a good shooter but the one-dimensional nature of his game does bother me. It's true he's not a great defender. As I remember I never thought it was because he wasn't trying, he just doesn't have the speed. He's a spot-up shooter, period. That said, maybe he could still help us that way, and he did love it here before. I'd consider it for a good price, but I'd still rather have someone more dynamic who can create shots, go to the rim AND shoot a high percentage. Hayward could be that person if not now, then soon. Not that we couldn't use more than one type of shooter. I think we need all the help we can get there.

The reason the Jazz did not resign KK is fairly obvious. The FO was sure they were going to resign Wes Matthews and saw no reason nor had the coin to put the money into KK with Wes in the fold. I am certain that if they had known Wes was blowing town they would have gone after KK. As for signing him now, I think it is a no brainer if the money is right. Bring him back to Utah.

The Jazz didn't resign Korver because they had $27 million ****ing (that's half of the cap) tied up in Memo for no reason and AK because they couldn't or wouldn't unload the ****ing free loader.

I like Rush, but signing him is highly contingent on context of contract, because his trajectory as a player looks like a case-study in buyer's remorse at this juncture.

Korver cheap would be a great addition, IMO. Good guy, clearly a superior shooter, familiar with the organization. Not a lot of downside there.

Obviously, his addition doesn't solve our shooting woes. That can only be accomplished by adding the right pieces so that you can consistently put 3-4 capable shooters on the floor at the same time. But it's a start.

I'd love to see Kyle back in the fold, a big-man who can consistently shoot the 3 to help really stretch the floor, and a long-term PG who is lights out from 3. With those additions we could consistently put multiple shooters on the floor. That opens everything up in a serious way.

I like Korver, if for nothing else, for the numerous photos of him cringing when someone goes up to dunk over him.

It's gold, Jerry.

Would he promise to shot 3s when the team needed them? I'm mean, he's got the single season 3pt record, so there shouldn't be any hesitation anymore, right?

KK would have likely stayed for the same money they threw at Wes.

Might be the worst defensive player in the league. Do we really need 2 guys, Al and Kyle, who don't play any defense?

Or do we need to be swept by the Spurs again to remind us that we really need guys that can play defense?

Look at them, they're doing great without any "deadeye" 3 point shooter. They got guys that can shoot, pass, and DEFEND. We don't need another one dimensional player who stands and watches TP, Manu, and Duncan go in for layup after layup after layup...

Kurt Kragthorpe should be fired for writing an entire article on just bringing back Korver, a servicebale outside shooter at best, a 10th or 11th man and nothing more. But I can see why he wrote that. Jazz have a habit of bringing back their own players from the past regardless of the erosion of skills or athleticism, like Ostertag(he never had much in the first place), Raja Bell, Edwards and so on

Playoffs against the Lakers...Jazz at home, down late in the game but coming back strong...need a three to cap the come back and the win. That's the situation, 9I want to say 2010 first round but I could be wrong.) Fast break -- Deron leading, flips the ball back to our designated three point specialist Korver for a wide open three. The crowd is already half out of their seats, when Korver passes on the opportunity to take the big shot. Instead he passes the ball to an obviously surprised Memo Okur (who was three feet farther out and out of rhythm) Memo rushes the shot and misses as the clock runs out.

That told me all I needed to know about Korver. I liked the guy okay, but I would pass on bringing him back. I want someone who is begging to take the big shot, who wants to be the hero.

Hardly the worst defensive player in the league. Why do people, including national commentators have the misconception that Korver is a bad defender? He works his tail off on D; just because he doesn't have the footspeed or agility of the good defenders doesn't mean he isn't adequate and sometimes better than that.

I don't hate Korver, I just don't feel he's a good enough all around baller to get major minutes (12 - 15'ish tops).
