What's new

Life is good.

I actually don't mind good, level-headed takes from Ute fans on my Cougs.

I agree. I'm always down with jazzmans thoughts and hey hey and tvivas (I think that's his name) and I think one or two of the bronc guys (gregbronc, bronco70, broncster. I can't remember who is who) are always cool.

And nevertheless... one has to question the integrity and the motives of an individual who would say "Life is good" by posting the score of a team's loss, rather than his favorite team's win.

Why not post that life is good with the BYU score?

OH wait. Silly lefty.

Nevermind. Carry on.

This two year break has been heavenly, for the record.

This.

It's one thing to post in each other's threads but to make a "Life is good" thread to celebrate Utah's first loss just shows how much space that team is taking up in the poster's head.

Say what you want about the Utah "trolls" on this board, but I didn't see a single "Life is good" thread posted in here after their Michigan debacle.

I actually don't mind good, level-headed takes from Ute fans on my Cougs. But the trolls that can't stay out only strengthen my "extreme dislike" for all things Ute.

*I'm trying not to use the word hate so so much.
My feelings, exactly.

Wow, welcome to the party...

Proof there are no BYU fans.

Just Utah haters.

#littlebrother

Says the BYU thread troll... I cheer for both until they play each other then tend to go for the Y. Geographical thing mostly. Then I see your ****ty posts and start to wonder why I cheer for the Utes. Thankfully, I know a number of Utes fans that aren't assclowns so it doesn't bother me any more.

I feel bad for him. I loved what he did at Temple. He should have stayed in Philly then taken over Penn St. He'd fit better there.

Meh. Sure he seemed like a nice guy, but he refused to change his system when it was clear it wasn't working. He never once fired a coach...not once. And it's not like he didn't have talent, he had more players drafted than wins last year. Ended up having 10 players from last years class make an opening day roster. He's a legit con artist. He needs to be in a place with low expectations, where he can run his **** scheme. Dude purposefully played slow on offense to make his defense look better statistically bc his best friend is his DC. Dude sucked at Miami, should've been fired a year ago.

I guess this is as good a thread to post this thought as any: It's going to be really interesting to see where this Utah/BYU rivalry stands 20 years from now. Especially from a fan perspective.

It seems like the majority of younger BYU fans (that I know personally) come from families that were steeped in BYU fandom during the prior generation that were enjoying the WAC dominance of the 70's and 80's. Just my opinion, but it doesn't seem like BYU generates many younger fans outside of that demographic, and even then, some of the children/grandchildren of that group seem to break away to Utah.

When you couple Utah's move to the PAC, the decent success they are having, especially in head-to-head meetings, and the growing numbers of non LDS population in Utah, I half wonder if two decades from now, Utah hasn't swallowed BYU whole.

That might sound crazy, but if you look back 20 years, BYU easily surpassed Utah in fanship and rooting interest. Now we're at a point where more people polled, report that Utah is their team. What is going to change that for BYU if you look at the current trajectory?

While I understand your perspective, I don't think it's that simple. BYU, despite the recent hits to their reputation, is a well respected school. There will always be a healthy number of Utahns that cheer for BYU and not just because of the LDS factor.

That doesn't minimize the growth of Utah fans. It just means that BYU will always have a solid presence in the state - and justifiably so.

I understand the point, and to take it even further, in my last post I didn't address the fact that as long as BYU is creating new students each year, they're creating many new life long Cougar fans.

BYU will always have a fanbase, however my point was more about looking at just how much fandom has shifted towards Utah in the last 2 decades. It's been absolutely remarkable and it seems like everything is still in place for that trend to continue, and the gap to widen even further.

While the loss still stings, it certainly does help cheer me up when I see the likes of Trout and Cy propping up a thread like this.

You guys just keep on hating. We'll happily keep rooting for our team while not giving a flying **** about yours. Good day
.

So sayeth the guy with the highest post count in the thread, Amen.

I encourage all Ute fans to stay out of the BYU threads and vice versa. I used to think that BYU fans would be interested in an outsiders take of their team. After many frustrating/nasty conversations, the light finally came on, and I realized how useless it is.

There are 1 or 2 level headed BYU fans that post in the Ute thread, and they'll probably take offense to this, but someday I hope they realize that getting out of that thread would be better for everyone involved. The same goes for the Ute fans lurking in the BYU thread. I don't need your thoughts on my team anymore than you need mine on yours. Next year we can make a game thread for the Utah/BYU game, insult each other for a week, and then go back to where we belong. That's my dream.

It is going to be a grand week, that is for certain.

Debacle?

Trout is a troll in this. I don't even think he would argue that.

Correct.

Lol. Because all BYU fans are just like Trout.

If they're not, they should be.

Wow. Say what you will about me, other BYU fans, CONAN, Duck, etc. -- the level of honest to God superiority complex/little-man syndrome that comes from Ute fans is light years ahead of anything I've ever said or thought. "Utah hasn't swallowed BYU whole" might just be the pinnacle of Ute-fan stupidity.

Anyhow, you should probably get back to not caring. PBUY.

"Swallowed whole" is a generous term, but the fact of the matter is that byu will be more irrelevant than utah state if they don't somehow find a way into a good conference.

Byu also needs a new coach. Their elders quorum president roscoe has shown he can't take them to the next level. It's too bad for that program that wittingham chose utah. If wittingham would have been the coach instead of roscoe, it would have been byu with a couple bcs appearances, and maybe they would be in a bug conference now.

I may be wrong, as byu is consistently in the "good not great" level of play, and roscoe has won a ton of games there. Just my thoughts on it though.
