Locke interviews Hayward

A somewhat interesting interview. Only three tidbits to mention that I noticed:

1. Hayward is happy Corbin is gone but trying to be respectful

2. Hayward also seems to be hesitant to referring to himself as still part of the Jazz

3. Locke is like an annoying/desperate school boy who wants Hayward to be his BFF.

Right now I kind of doubt that Hayward will be with the Jazz at the start of next season even with DL's pronouncements.

Wow, that interview made my ears bleed. You were right Bean, Locke is an annoying little schoolgirl. Talking about traffic in the Philippines and Hayward's fiancee's "American Beauty." Embarrassing.

Based on what? I don't think any one will offer him the max, even if his play was largely based on poor team offense. Other teams will be hesitant. I'd be really surprised if the Jazz let an asset like him slip away for a few extra million. I'd bet they match anything up to 13-14M, and I don't see any teams that will offer him more.

Owners have repeatedly Shown that they are stupid and unable to control spending. This summer is going to be full of overpaid FA. The majority of teams ran conservative budgets the past two years, but now the cap and tax line are jumping up 5 million and everyone has eyes towards that new tv deal. Hayward will get paid way more than he is worth.

IMO the jazz missed out by not being ready to sign discounted FA last summer. It willbe a few years before discounts are available again.

"It's a trip to the Phillipines on the NBA, I couldn't pass it up."

Hayward is so cheap, his apartment fridge isprobably full of ketchup packages.

Ketchup packets and saltines..... The interview was embarrassing enough for the listener. I can't imagine how Hayward felt. Locke needs to tone down that creepy I want to make a doll out of your discarded hair vibe.

So you betting on Jazz massively overpaying? That would be worse than AK's contract to be honest. I doubt Lindsey is that stupid.

I'd say it is overpay but not massively. If Hayward is put into a role more suited for him than I'd say he is worth 11 maybe even 12 mil.

I have no problem with Hayward coming back, just at the right price. We can't pay a guy $12 million to be third banana on the team.

Pretty funny, even if I disagree and see him making you eat crow when he's put back into his traditional role.

I'd love for him to make me eat crow, especially on our team. I just don't see it happening.

Although, I'll give everyone a second chance under a new coach/system. I still don't think Hayward is that special. Ok player, ok personality, great gf.

Right because 17 million a year over 7 years of crying is far better then a guy putting up respectable numbers for 4 year at 13-14 million. That's sound logic there.

If you want to talk logic you should get your facts straight. AK was never paid 17mil a year for 7 years. Plus AK was All-star. What did Hayward do to deserve 14 min a year?
Lindsey is not stupid. If he matches anything close to 14mil/year for Hayward I promise to leave this site and not post anymore. Self ban - that's it.

Hayward's value I put at maybe 7 million. Maybe someone will pay him more, maybe the Jazz will match, but it has to be within reason. If some GM is stupid enough to give Hayward upwards of 12M then that's their mistake. It'd be nice to flip him for an asset, since then he doesn't just walk for nothing in return, but I don't think the Jazz do lose much not having Hayward on the team. Meh is right.

this podcast was awful. locke is so tedious, hayward is so vanilla. there was nothing of interest. why bother interviewing somebody about how a trip is going when they're one day into it? ugh

The 6:00 mark is when the "interesting" stuff starts (stuff about Corbin and the team). It promptly ends about 2 minutes later and Locke gets back to name dropping.

I listened to the interview and these inferences that Beanbro got, I did not get. I think it's a stretch to be honest.
