Lockout!!!

Sounds like they may be trying to reach an agreement without either side having the appearance of caving??

Could be. I mean, it definitely has the feel of compromise if you ask me. But deep down, I don't think the players will accept it.

Like I said before, this is the best offer the players are going to get. If they don't accept the deal by the end of Wednesday, then the owners' offer will go back to 47% while including a flex cap. So at this point, the players have to decide if they're going to take what's on the table or decertify the union; end the lockout or end the season.

Now it is going to be up to the courts. I think the players are going to hurt themselves big time when it is all said and done. Players don't know what they have.

Agreed. Every report I've read suggests that the players would most likely lose in court, if that's the route they decide to take. If they don't accept this offer, I'll be convinced that they truly have no idea what's going on.

I can't believe the agents and the union have convinced (most of) the players that what they're engaged in right now is a good idea. I have a totally different take on this issue than the parties negotiating and generally tend to side against owners (not so much WITH players), but the offer is extremely unlikely to get any better for the players. Unless the players find anything resembling leverage, they're probably going to have to continually concede.

Maybe (something like) the ABA comes back and there's an ACTUAL marketplace for players' services. Probably not.

This whole lockout I have generally sided with the players. If they do dissolve the union and send this whole thing into utter chaos, I will be legitimately upset. Part of me still thinks it is a scare tactic to gain a few more tenths of % points to the BRI.

Maybe...either that or they actually think they have a better shot at getting what they want in court.....which they probably don't. This deal is about as good as it's going to get for the players. I just hope they realize that before it's too late...

They can keep trying to call the owners bluff, problem is, I don't think the owners are bluffing.

This.

Fisher and Hunter calling these deals unfair too is laughable. Yeah, so unfair for some moron to earn a couple million a year to play basketball about 20 minutes a night. Unbelievable. The owners have all the risk here and have all the right to get as much of the pie as they feel they need or deserve. ****, it's not like they're asking for 75%. They're asking for half. I hope the players shoot themselves in the foot, continue to try to play hardball and get screwed all the way down to 48%. Morons.

.....good points, by the way....very good points!

I swear to God, if the entire season gets cancelled, and we get screwed on our draft positon because they average it over the last three years, I'm going to go ****ing postal.

All I have to say is that if the Union won't put the proposal given to a vote by all of there players how do they know if the deal is good enough for those players or not? I'm completely frusterated with this whole thing.

So they will do a projected team record to determine draft order next year? I hope we get a deal but I am not counting on it.

As Coon suggested, it's time to let the players weigh in with a vote, not pretend to know their best interests in weighing the deal. But I've lost any hope that common sense will ever be incorporated into this process.

It's defenitly over if they decertify. The courts won't side with the players and the owners will nail them. The diva days are over for these players.
