I'm not saying you have to agree with everything somebody said or do, but to simply 'accept' that people are different, have different opinions, world view, etc, and as long as it doesn't 'hurt' them it is OK for people to be different and freely live the life that they choose.


If the answer to the question above is "Yes", then why is it so hard to achieve?

1) Do you go to counseling?
2) If you don't, you should.
3) Are you this sensitive in real life?
4) Do you go bald or with a landing strip?

cowhide, are you a person of the female persuasion? Just wondering. I tend to stereotype compassion for others in combination with contempt for those who have no compassion as something akin a a mom defending her babe when he is being particularly obnoxious.

I learned from studying Ambrose Bierce humor that almost everyone is pompously unjust to others on a grand scale, in almost every line of human thought, and that only humor can sustain healthy relations with others. Of course, he was a socialist dreamer, but just the same. . . .

I have since decided I have no need to control others' actions or perceptions of me, at least so long as I have the ability to cope with it all, economically. I consider the dream of having "acceptance" or "love" an unreasonable demand on society in general.

I don't even bother trying to keep up with folks who come and go in here. I know the sig line I use came from somebody who thought it was a hoot to dabble in meaningless banter on this LTE when I had brash ambitions about rivaling your volume and rep. I thought it was evident that a game was being run on this forum by somebody who had more time for it than I do, and that Nightmare3983 had a good idea how I could actually pass you.

However the reason I haven't changed that sig line is because I still do a lot of very long bits in here, and anyone who reads them deserves a laugh at the end. Something that balances out my OCD seriousness with a little dash of frivolity.

I think that Nightmare3983 is here under another name, but would have no reticence about just running a gag like the one above.

So who holds the running title for the most active dupes in this forum?

So I watch some movies with my kids. There's this one called Ace Ventura: Pet Detective or something like that. I like the old grandpa when he comes in and looks at the progress board his grandson keeps about open cases, which happened to be sorta overloaded with pics of the kid's obsession, a nice girl named "Laura".

Grandpa asked "obsess much?". I remember being that age, and having a case like that. . . .

Well anyway, the question I have about your "genius" taunt. . . .. would run almost like that. . . . . but would translate as

"laugh much?"
 
In what year will I pass PKM in total posts, and in what year will I pass PKM in total rep. . . . assuming of course that management in this forum deems it beneficial to restore a free market in the rep business.
 
One thing that worries me greatly. . . . though for a vanishingly infinitesimal length of time. . . . is whether the management in this house will ever conclude to put a cap on total post count, too.
 
As a technical point, I realize that this thread is tolerated for whatever reason though "The Law" could be read out on it and used to shut this down permanently and for good.
 
So, I offer a variety of topics and a plausible intellectual sort of merit along with the silliness I sometimes resort to, like I'm doing just at this moment.

Life is like this thread. We all have our little streaks of meaninglessness mixed in with our serious efforts to have legitimate fun. . . well. . . .some fun, anyway.

Probably, it could be argued, most "fun" is illegitimate somehow.
