Mailman on 1280 The Zone :))

Can you imagine Malone trying to coach someone?

Malone: "No son, no. Look, a deaf cat can hear the windblow sometimes, but you got to put the ball in the basket!"

Kanter: "What?"

Malone: Look, just do this move. *Malone shows Kanter a move* "Just put your foot down like a deer in the woods, lightly but not to light"

Kanter: ".........."

Malone: "Enough with this practicing boy, Karl Malone is hungry. I heard you had some turkey?!?"

weak.

[On leaving for the Lakers]
"Forget longterm, without a doubt I did not feel [Jazz] they wanted me. i know it wasn't Gail, I know it wasn't Larry I know it wasn't Greg...kinda like what's going on with Peyton Manning...I'm being real guys...they wanted to move on and didn't know how to tell me...

That's bull ****, lies, or he is totally confused.

There is no way Sloan and Larry wanted to move on from Karl. If they did, they would've traded him. This kind of tells you all you need to know about how seriously to take things that Karl says. Besides all of that, they had nothing to move on TO.

They did sign two offer sheets, but were outbid.

[Did they call you to work with him?]
No. You can’t beat the fart out of a dead mule, they haven’t called they ain’t gonna call.

This is a huge failure on the record of our management. You have your best player in history begging to come in and work with your new prize, and you don't even call him.
WTF? Karl would be perfect for Kanter. Karl has talked several times about wanting to come in and help. He's just waiting for a call.

So... yeah... they had nothing to move on to, and that's a wholly secondary point. The Jazz wanted Karl. Karl wanted a championship and probably felt somehow spurned that Larry understood that.

Karl said he knew it didn't come from the Miller's (mentioned Larry, Gail and Greg by name) - that it essentially came from KOC.
1. That's totally believable because w/out Karl Utah had a ton of cap space and could make a clean break into a full-rebuilding mode.
2. From KOC's viewpoint in June of 2003, it made alot of sense because Karl's presence would've made it more difficult for KOC to do his job that summer. Karl could no longer carry the Jazz to 50-win seasons (and even the playoffs would be in doubt w/out Stockton) and his presence would have made it hard to attract and convince top-tier FA's that they could be primetime players for the Jazz with Karl still there. The Jazz targeted Andre Miller and Elton Brand and were prepared to make near-max offers to both (they were rebuffed) and eventually had to settle for Corey Maggette and Jason Terry (offer sheets that were matched).

If I'm a Jazz fan, coach, or owner - I want Karl to stay with the Jazz at all costs. If I'm KOC (who don't forget was only finishing his 3rd year with the Jazz and didn't have any unbreakable allegiances to Malone - esp since Stock had already retired) I probably would prefer to have a blank canvas to work with.

If KOC's viewpoint was that he was just going to go out and grab other team's RFAs and keep chugging along then he was a moron. That strategy almost never works.

I still don't buy it. Malone wasn't worth the max at that point anyway.

Andre Miller was the #1 target and everyone knew he was leaving the Clippers. Elton Brand was the other max-target - and everyone knew Donald Sterling wouldn't keep everyone (Brand, Maggette and Lamar Odom were also all FA's for the Clippers). Malone wasn't going to generate the max, but he certainly wouldn't be playing for the minimum that he did for LA - and his presence alone would pose a roadblock for attracting potential FA's.

Last i check dwill didnt knock up a 13 year old girl while in college (edited by moderator) and then refuse to see the child or wanna take care of child. Dwill is 5 times a betetr person then malone and it aint close. This is like Jerry Sandunsky calling Peyton Manning a bad person

I'll defer to you on this I guess

This should sufficiently answer the question on why the Jazz don't employ Karl.

[On Charles' Golf Game]

“I don’t golf, and I’m better than Charles. Are you chopping wood? What is going on?”

This has to break some kind of Jazzfanz rule of conduct? Right.
