Game Thread Mar 23, 2022 05:30PM MT: Jazz at Celtics

This is going to be a tough one without Bogey. The Celtics are playing great right now.

This would be a tough one with Bogey. The Celts have really found their groove. They are making defence popular again.

Celtics are 18-3 since the beginning of February and the Jazz are 15-6. This should be a great game.

We don't have the defensive chops to contain Boston. And without bogey we are lacking serious firepower. We're gonna get pounded.

This is a game where both Bogey and House would make a big difference. Hope I am wrong but this one could get ugly.

This is the toughest game remaining on the Jazz's schedule. Jazz don't need this win and are really playing with house money. It would be a huge win if they can get it though.

If the Jazz can finish 7-3, that will force Dallas to go 9-1 in order to pass the Jazz, since the Jazz hold the tie-breaker (Division winner). Of the 10 games remaining:
- Jazz gimmies are Portland, OKC & LAC.
- Must-wins are LAL, CHA & GSW (w/o Curry).
- Jazz then need an extra win from BOS, MEM, DAL & PHX.

Phoenix will have nothing to play for when they play in Utah, and I'm expecting they'll rest their key players. The Jazz should also beat Memphis at home, and this would give the Jazz another game as a cushion in case they blow one of their must-win games.

If Dallas loses 2 more games this season, the Jazz can just follow the above formula. Dallas plays @MIL, @CLE on a B2B, @MIN and vs. UTA and won't be favored in any of those games.

Meh.

I don't care much about HCA in a theoretical 4/5 matchup. The real prize would be passing GSW and getting the 3rd seed.

This one could get ugly. The Celtics are the most "bust your ***" team in the league and are super versatile. We also have no one to guard Tatum and Brown.

The Jazz can pass the Warriors in the standings with only 51 or 52 wins, so the scenario I described does earn the 3rd seed. I think the Warriors will finish with no more than 51 wins, tbh. The Jazz need to win their next game agains the Ws, but they really should given the fact that Curry will be out.

If the Jazz can hold off Dallas and Denver, that should be enough to take the 3rd seed.

Extremely nervous about Bogey's injury lasting this long. Is my memory correct that we were up by like 30 when he got hurt? Because if so, that bothers me.

I don't think there's anything to be nervous about...teams are always cautious with soft tissue injuries. Remember earlier in the season when Rudy missed around 6 or 7 games with the same injury? I'm sure Bogey's going to be back in the next few days and be just fine.

Freaking awesome national anthem!!
