Marcus Smart with the 5th pick

Sigh.

I'm sorry that you don't know how to spell. I really was confused on which Burke or Burks you were talking about. So I'm sorry that you thought that I could read your mind. I'm sorry I didn't react to your personal attacks the way you wanted.

You're super good at Jazzfanz'ing. Congrats.

Do you want to get back on track as far as our conversation about how Marcus Smart and Alec Burks (genuinely, my bad on that. I was quickly typing and in my haste, left off the s.) bring similar things to the table from an offensive standpoint, but how Marcus Smart is likely to be the better defender and that we need that at every position?

We don't have to though. You're the boss. You've paid the cost, afterall.

Is that what we're looking for at 5? The most nba ready player? What about potential?

Are we going to swing for the fences and gamble or take the safe pick?

Exactly. I've now heard multiple interviews from Dennis with him saying he'll do what's best for the long-term interest of the team. He says they could move well past 5 and still get a player they like, while admitting that player might be incomplete in terms of skill set and experience, but they're going to be very long-term in the decision they make.

He was obviously talking about the player that you were comparing smart to

Still don't think having a Smart/Burke backcourt is that bad to be honest. The Suns had a smaller backcourt and it worked great for them.

He insulted me and couldn't even spell Alec's name right. For that, I'll make fun of him. Don't start what ya can't finish!

So is Marcus Smart clearly better than Alec Burks?

How do we know that Alec isn't a leader or good defender?

I think the Jazz are relatively satisfied with Burke/Garrett/Neto and Hayward/Burks in the backcourt. SF is a huge priority and they could use an upgrade instead of bringing Marvin back at the stretch-4. Gordon or Vonleh seem the obvious best fits. That said, McDermott will probably be the choice.

answer: by watching the ****ing games. As far as Alec's game goes, defense is my main complaint by a wide margin.

Agreed.

We don't need any more PGs.

We have several other positions to address. And many of the prospects at those other positions may even be superior to Smart. Namely, Aaron Gordon. I'm not even a huge Gordon fan. But I think I'd take him over smart.

#1. Always draft BPA. Marcus may very well be BPA at #5.

#2. Marcus has the length and strength to guard SGs. I can even see him guarding SFs on occasion (similar to Wes).

#3. Please cheer the **** up.

#4. Thanks.

Smart does intrigue me. So does Vonleh though, and I think I still like Vonleh more as a 5th pick. It's hard for me to love Smart without seeing him going against competition in work-outs (same goes for Vonleh I suppose).

Making predictions on draftees can be tough-- especially in a draft like this.

#1 Marcus Smart isn't the best prospect available.
#3 if he can defend SGs are we planning on starting him over Burks? We can't have the #5 draft pick come off the bench, can we? Yet, we can't have Burks come off the bench in favor of a rookie, right? That can't be good for chemistry.
#2 how do we know Burks can't defend?
