Marcus Smart with the 5th pick

do you watch basketball games? srs

Yes? And your point?

This draft is becoming more and more like the draft a few years ago when many on this board were just crazy for knight. I'm seeing the same type of fan club building for Smart. A word of caution:

I maintained the stance of taking the best prospect available. If it's mostly a tie then go with the big. In that draft case it was Kanter, Valsomething, and Biyombo. We took kanter. To this day, few would regret that pick as kanter still has a lot of potential to reach. While knight has been a big disappointment. He just isn't a very talented prospect.

Hence, why I think Vonleh and Gordon are superior gambles at 5. Especially when you consider Alec is better than Smart offensively and arguably just as good defensively.

let's say the top four picks are Embiid, Wiggins, Parker, and Vonleh. Please convince me that Exum is better than Smart. Please provide real evidence. TIA

Go with Gordon.

If it's a tie between 2 guards and a big, go with the big.

Any more questions?

****loads.

#1. Why haven't you upped your meds?

#2. You realize we could trade Burke, right? T-R-A-D-E... look it up.

[Edit: I'm gonna stop here. I still remember that you're O Gatino, and that I shouldn't waste my time.]

#1. Always draft BPA. Marcus may very well be BPA at #5.

#2. Marcus has the length and strength to guard SGs. I can even see him guarding SFs on occasion (similar to Wes).

#3. Please cheer the **** up.

#4. Thanks.

Cheer YOURSELF up.

TIA

Dante Exum has a chance at developing into a 1st option type player on offense, Marcus Smart does not, IMO thats the end of the Smart v Exum argument.

I actually probably agree with this. But there's no doubt the evidence is scant. I was baiting The Thriller into providing some evidence... since he has nothing but Draft Express and some recycled PKM.... filtered through his eternal grumpy pants.

It's pretty nice to know we'll have a shot at Exum, Vonleh, or Smart. Good players.

Guys like green and Fabtrey seem to abuse the hell outta drugs. They're like the heavy versions of Fishonjazz (props bro. I like you.). Guys like The Thriller should try drugs a few times. They'd probably be medicinal. Get a little high, braugh, and think about life. Or try a lot of Boone's Farm, amiright?

Not really doe

lol

OMG.

It must be jazzfanz.com during the summer after another miserable season. Gordon is Blake Griffin and Smart is now Westbrook.

What will be the flavor of the week next Monday? Vonleh=Larry Bird? Will Randle be Karl Malone?

You know, the guy I like in the latter stages of the 1st round is Early. I see a lot of Michael Jordan in him......

Sheesh!

Smart isn't even close to Westbrook. Not even close.

Westbrook wasn't even close to Westbrook when he was drafted. Anyone who says that they knew he would become what he is is lying. It was a controversial pick at the time.

I love the certainty with which people here declare so and so is a bust or so and so is so much better than someone else. None of us know any of this with any reasonable level of certainty.

For what it's worth, I think Smart is the BPA at #5 assuming Ebiid, Wiggins, Parker and Exum go 1-4. I base this on a very unsystematic review of analysis I've read. Would I bet any amount of money on this? Nope.

Watching Marcus Smart shoot 3 - 16 in the C's last two games with the Cavs affirmed that passing on him was a bright idea.
