Mavs vs. Heat Finals Thread

How can people complain about Dallas? Pretty much their 1-9 rotation players could all start on basically every team. The Heat have 3 stars and a bunch of washups or vets.

Haslem and Miller are'nt "washups". Miami has more than enough star power and that's what will get you calls in the NBA. They have 3 stars(all of them younger who can handle heavy mins) vs 1 for the Mavs.

I hope the Mavs take the next 2, if not this series is as good as over. It has already tilted a bit in Miami's favor.

Yeah, cause those guys contributed much during the regular season. Miller and Haslem aren't as big of game changers as bench players on the Mavs. The Heat's bench absolutely sucks compared to the Mavs.... and that's with 2 bench players starting for them.

well Haslem was hurt during the regular season. But now he is back. He already has a ring and is a valuable role player for the Heat. Chalmers is also playing decently for them in this Finals. Anyways the Heat have 3 stars, 2 of them superstars, and the Mavs have only 1. Thats a HUGE difference in the playoffs, where bench depth doesnt matter as much as how good your top 5 are.And the Heat's stars are young and can easily handle 40 mins. If the Mavs had a healthy Butler then this might be a slightly different story. But right now they are too dependent on Nowitzki to make all the plays by himself down the stretch.

Wade falls down every play. Odd for such a young healthy guy. Why do the refs assume he is being fouled when he falls down? Can't they figure out that is faking it?

Stop rewarding him for blatant cheating! This is repulsive.

...needless to say, I was very disenchanted with the Mav's play last night. 14 turnovers is not good against the Heat, who capitalized on just about every one. They shot poorly as well. Missed some wide open easy ones, too. The squirt kid is still having a pathetic series. Well, I guess the Mav's are just going to have to do this the hard way!

Considering how meek Dallas has looked in the paint, I'm changing my backing to Miami. Keep Cuban ringless (and Marion, and DeShawn, and all those other fools).

Miller a game changer? hahaha! You for real right now? Since when? He's flat out horrible and overrated. I still have the Mavs in 7. And yes, I hate Lebron. Dirk scores the last 12 points for the Mavs. He needs more help from his team and I believe Dallas' bench will come through the rest of the series.

We can blame the refs or Miller or whoever all you want.

In reality, this game was lost by Dallas.

How many bad passes that floated out of bounds? How many times did they basically hand Lebron/Wade fast break dunks (like the very first play of the 2nd half)? How many wide open 3's does Barea and Peja need to brick? How many quick shots does Terry need to jack up with 20+ seconds left on the shot clock?

And has anyone on Dallas ever attempted to post up in the paint this entire series?

Dallas, as much as they've "changed" still resembles the jungle chucking ball that nellie gave them a decade ago. They utterly refuse to take care of the ball, they hate posting up inside, and they love chucking the 3 ball. When they get hot, they're a tough team to beat. But oftentimes, what shoots them back into games, also shoots them out of them.

You cannot beat Miami by outshooting or running them. Theeeeee only way to beat them, is to slow it down (like what teams did to team USA a few years back) and get them in foul trouble. In the 2nd half, Miami started to pull away. then, for the next minute or so, the refs made a Dirk parade at the FT line which brought Dallas close. Then, Dallas fell back in love with the chucking.

the only way to beat Miami, is to slow the game down to a turtle's pace, grind it out, get to the FT line, and foul out some people. In this series, just think how screwed Miami would be if Udonis and Bosh were in foul trouble? How terrible would their offense look if Wade and Lebron were sitting with fouls?

It can be done. But it won't be if all you do is chuck up 3's.

As great as this Miami team is, I think that old 1997 Utah Jazz team could have destroyed them. Malone would live at the FT line, fouling out Bosh, Anthony, and Haslem. And Stockton wouldn't get too carried away like Kidd, Terry, and Barea do. He'd keep the pace under control and execute the offense.

Also JJ Barea sucks ****. This series is proving it. I hope everyone stops calling him good after this series.

....dead on brother, dead on! What you just stated makes 3 times as much sense as any of the ESPN clowns, Fox Sports Clowns, media sports clowns that I've heard .......ALL PUT TOGETHER!

Lebron clearly drew a foul towards the end of the game on a shot fake where the defender jumped into his body (he didn't even have to move to draw contact) and he didn't get the call. This is called 90% of the time, 99.9% in the case of any notable player. The refs are clearly trying to make each game come down to last possession excitement if you ask me.

Also, flopping while trying to get rebounds is quickly climbing up my list of the most annoying things in basketball.

People don't even fight for rebounds anymore. If you try to fight for a rebound, you get called for a foul half the time. BUT, if you don't have a shot at a rebound, so instead bump into the rebounder and then fall down, you've got a good shot at drawing a foul. Wade takes it a step further, and actually JUMPS ON TOP of Chandler, and then falls down. Foul on Chandler. Freaking amazing.

This is the guy that dislocated Rondos elbow intentionally tackling him to help his team advance, and still he gets away with anything.

I am repulsed.

Dirk was bumped twice on his last shot, but instead of flopping, or jumping into his defender, he just tried to make the shot. That doesn't cut it in the NBA. You've gotta cheat.

That last shot he could have flopped but didn't. People should now know that Dirk isn't as big of a flop as people portray him to be.

Dirk's defense and rebounding effort in the 1st/early 2nd quarter has been horrific. Dallas has to feel fortunate to be tied at 34 - thanks in large part to DeShawn Stevenson's 3-point shooting. Wow, never thought I'd type that.
