Max Out Bradley Beal?

See, I just don't think he's worth a max. He and Hood are pretty similar in effectiveness, but I give the edge to Hood shockingly because of defense. Watching Beal play defense is hilarious in a bad way...doesn't even fight through screens. I don't want a guy like that.

Anyways, I think to give a guy a max contract they have to at least be effective on both ends of the court. I wouldn't even give Hood a max someday though. We can afford it now, and it would improve our team, but I think long term it would hinder us.

I agree he is not worth the max, but the Jazz are going to have to overpay for someone to come to Utah in Free Agency. I think he is a great addition to this squad. He is a pure scorer. Something we do not have.

Exum / Vet FA / Mack
Beal / Burks / Valentine (#12 Pick)
Hayward / Hood / Ingles
Favors / Lyles / (2nd Round Pick - Thon Maker) one can dream right?
Gobert / Vet FA

That is a top 5 in the west lineup.
 
I would simply because I think Beal is the best player that we have a legitimate chance of getting at the moment.

Exum, Beal, Hayward, Favors, Gobert is a really solid lineup. Mack, Burks, Lyles, Booker, and Raul are promising backups. Hopefully our draft picks can be turned into a couple upgrades over guys like Joe and Johnson at the end of our bench.
 
There are not that many true max players in the league. I'm not sure how an oft-injured non-All Star is a max player. Beal and others deserve what the market allows but I don't think a guy like Beal should be in the max category. A max player should be top 10-15 player in the league or at the very least be the best player on his team... Beal is neither of those. That said, for a reasonable contract, I absolutely wouldn't mind signing him for a market-value price, but I'm not sure he will be leaps and bounds better than Hood at the 2 and Hood has much better size.
 
Beal will get 5 year megamax and if he's healthy he's worth it. Don't get hung up in the MAX player argument. It's the same dumb argument that had 90% of the board arguing with me that we shouldn't match haywards deal.

It will take the max to get him and even then I'm almost 100% sure they match. There are like 20 teams with max salary slots available and some teams with two slots... Everyone is getting PAID! There will be almost no "value" signings.

When I read that Beal was in search of a max contract I laughed. He has averaged 15 pts per game. Is a good player but has not shown any sense of a killer instinct that max players usually possess at one time or another, and his prone to injury. I get that there are some players that are tough but still get injured often. Beal is not one of them. Just look up his injuries, Leg, ankle, pelvis, nose, hand, etc... Ok Bradley Beal, we get it, you need to come into the game with a tampon and wearing a crotch cup that covers your whole body or at least your face. How much did you want to get paid again? LOL, that is the same amount of money that good players make that are real men. Sorry Bradley we are not going to pay you max money or anything close to it.
A. Your replaceable in about 3 phone calls max.
B. Your better off playing in the WNBA if you want a fair shot at a max contract.
C. Your bones could shatter if you play anyone that shows you the least amount of defense.
If he told me that it would take a max contract to keep him, I would walk him out myself laughing the entire time and would be very tempted to push him in front of a bus in the street while still laughing uncontrollably.
