Game Thread May 23, 2021 07:30PM MT: Jazz vs. Grizzlies - Game 1

Added to Calendar: 05-23-21

Hey just FYI. The mRNA vaccines are showing myocardititis (extreme autophagy of mitochondria in the heart) in some healthy young men 12 days after the 2nd shot. I would beg the Jazz to watch out for this. Please have them do cardio ahead of time under medical supervision and make sure they are all fine. We don't want a tragedy.

I guess we have to hope that the Jazz are playing games here by thinking they can just sit him out when they don't need to, rather than the (re)injury being that bad.
I can't imagine the Jazz playing games like this. If he's "close" but not 100% it seems like you'd just play him limited minutes and pull him if he didn't seem good to go. To keep your team's leading scorer on the bench to open the playoffs after more than a month out for a "minor" injury? I just don't get it.

I remember someone posting that we should pretend Donovan is not healthy and than surprised thw Grizzlies that he plays. Apparently we're playing this opposite way..

Well yeah, but they wouldn't have been able to make playoff tickets as expensive with the former strategy.

If he's not healthy right now, after 6 or whatever weeks, he's not getting healthy(fully).

This is the truth. It's been six weeks, an extra two two days isn't going to be the deciding factor in getting him healthy.

I think it's a real possibility Mitchell is out for a much longer time than we're being led to believe.

And sadly, the media isn't helping. When it was set that Mitchell would sit the rest of the season, the media was quick to lead with the idea that he could return even then but that they didn't want to risk it and he'd be back for the playoffs. Clearly not.

My favorite was when the FO pushed a narrative that Donovan being in the boot after the Houston series wasn't a big deal and there was no issue and they pushed media people to go out and say that fans are being overreactive about it. Then a couple years later DL in an interview uses that point to bolster whatever case he was making of 'oh, we struggled because Donovan had been in the boot all summer and limited workout dealing with an injury, etc.'

So, rest assured, y'all may get your vindication at some point. Maybe a year or two down the road when they pretend that they always told us how bad things were.

LOL

More than likely Donovan has been having good days and bad days, and like most optimists he was over accentuating the good days.

He went full steam during practice this morning and felt pain this afternoon.

Sucks but they'll try again Wednesday.

Agreed. I mean maybe you don't need Donovan to beat the grizzlies if everyone else is healthy.
But what if Mike or Rudy or bogey or Jordan or a combo of those guys gets hurt and now you don't have Donovan as well. Could be the difference in the series.

Playing guys like Ingles too many minutes and making them play too hard could cause other injury issues to arise

If he doesn't play it better be because he can't play or the jazz are playing a risky, and stupid imo, game.

And maybe the risk taken doesn't end up biting us in the end and we sweep the grizzlies without Mitchell and no one else gets hurt or anything and Mitchell comes back next round and the jazz go on to win the championship.

Whatever, I want him out there

What the hell is this nonsense.

Mitchell himself said he was playing tonight, and the Jazz didn't have him on the injury report yesterday. This isn't the media's fault at all, lmao.

Game 2 isn't until Wednesday. It means that Mitchell can work out and rest a couple more days before making his debut. I'm going to guess that the FO is encouraging him to do that.
