Game Thread May 26, 2021 08:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Grizzlies - Game 2

Added to Calendar: 05-26-21

I wish I could say I came away from this game more confident the Jazz would take this series but I'm skeptical. I'm not especially confident in their ability to win on the road.

You need to take your homer glasses off. The Jazz did not play subpar. They scored 141 pts on very good percentages. Memphis played subpar in the first half. They were shooting like 16 percent from 3 at the half. Jazz defense was horrible for the most part. This is going to be a tough series and the Jazz are going to need JC to start making 3 pts.
If we don't find a way to actually play D it will be a long series. I imagine we'll lose the next one. If we thought they were getting friendly whistles in Utah just wait until it moves back to Memphis and we have 4 guys with 4-5 fouls before the 4th quarter even starts.

Maybe they should experiment for about 60 seconds or less with letting Oni chase Ja around
Or even Forest, who played some decent D on guards in this end of season stretch.

Man. If my math is correct their starters shot 62% from the field this game. Our defense was non-existent in this game.

DM played great considering he hasn't played in 6 weeks but he still does not look 100 percent. For the most part he was a jump shooter. He didn't seem to have his usual blast past people. Royce came up big with a few key 3 pts. Conley played great offensively. Joe reverted back to leave open shots and pass to teammate. Guy made all four shots he took. He needs to take more. Bogey was decent. Had a few dumb turnovers. JC played ok but his 3 pt shooting sucked again. Off to Memphis and the Jazz need to bring their big boy pants.

Somebody tell me then, where’s the home cooking?
Game was way way too long. League has got to tell the refs that these are unwatchable by the average fan without a dog in the fight. Refs called way too many fouls. It seemed like it was Kane Fitzgerald's mission to get Memphis back in the game. He must have had money on them.

My three players of the game today. In no specific order.

Mitchell. Man this offense is so different with him playing man!! He was his regular self all be it sitting out the last 40 or so days. He picked this team up and was the leader and energy we lacked in game one.

Conley. Dudes door game was on point and got Gobert so many easy points at the rim which opened up tons of open threes and carried the jazz with his scoring in the middle part of the 4th with Mitchell out.

Oneale was on fire and seemed to hit a three at the most critical points of the game.

I think it would need to be Forest if Mitchell is still on restricted minutes. Forest is the only other steady ball handler on the team. In game 1 Memphis forced multiple turnovers when Conley was off the floor.

Genius Quin didn't let Forrest see the floor in either game.

Well the TNT crew seems pretty convinced we are the underdogs and will have a hard time winning this one.

Chuck is right, we have no answer for Ja Morant..

Honestly we are playing a stupid strategy. We should be sagging off him and giving him open threes, playing ball denial when he is off ball, throw some zone at him.

It's fixable imo.
