Game Thread May 26, 2021 08:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Grizzlies - Game 2

Added to Calendar: 05-26-21

This is funny to watch. Kenny is making a case that Utah has a good chance to win this series because they can't guard us. The others arguing with him that there is nothing we can do to stop Morant and Brooks so we're basically dead.

I gotta say, that JV hook shot is quite a weapon.
Favors had no shot in hell at stopping it. He was making that hook against favors over and over. Not really favors fault either, it's an elite shot and JV is elite at it

Honestly we are playing a stupid strategy. We should be sagging off him and giving him open threes, playing ball denial when he is off ball, throw some zone at him.

It's fixable imo.

Agreed. That's how the Warriors played him and they were unlucky because he had a good shooting night. He only shot 30% from 3 for the season. I'd rather take my chances with him shooting 3's than shots at the rim.

When? Not sure replacing one guy's minutes because of injury concerns with another guy whose on a minutes restriction for injury concerns is the best.
I would think that Mitchell's minutes and conditioning will increase game by game like normally happens when you bring a player back from injury.

Do you think Mitchells minutes are going to go down each game? That would be a new strategy that has never been done before when bringing a player back from injury.

As far as Chuck and O’Neal saying the jazz should be worried about Brooks and Ja, and that causing this series to be a long one. That’s all the jazz need to worry about, the griz need to worry about the entire jazz team. We saw that on full display. Mitchell, Conley, and Gobert scoring 20+ each, and Bogey with 18, then there’s Clarkson the 6th man then there’s the Gobert screen and rolls and Gobert putting Ja on a reverse poster, and the three point shooting.

sorry Chuckles and Shaq baby!!

I don't think conditioning is the issue. It's not why he was held out last game, and it didn't seem to be the problem tonight.

Well the TNT crew seems pretty convinced we are the underdogs and will have a hard time winning this one.
I think they're probably more correct than Jazz fans want to admit. Tonight, Memphis matched Utah's intensity and played pretty strong in the second half of a game Utah absolutely needed but Memphis didn't. That indicates to me we're maybe not the better team.

Sure, I could be wrong and things flip in Memphis but I'm assuming the Jazz will be dogs Saturday and if they lose that game, they'll be dogs again in game four, and right there makes them underdogs for the series.

To be honest, I'm more discouraged after tonight's win than I was Sunday's loss because I really expected the Jazz to come out and dominate and while they did in the second quarter, it didn't really carry over into the second half.

I'm actually leaning toward Utah losing in six, which is insane to me because I wouldn't have thought that even after game one.

We defend JV very badly. He takes the ball on the post and he is backing down for seconds. Our Perimeter players go to help, but never in a way that will bother him. We have to commit to help defense. Good defensive teams no longer allow a player to spend that long in the post in the NBA. Quin is a bit conservative in this regard because he cares so much about defending the three-point line. But we can take some risks against a team like Memphis.

Well I will ask you point blank. So you think he plays more than 26 minutes next game or less?

I think more.
So he will probably take some of those minutes from Mike. Joe should too, I agree about that. 37 minutes is too many for Mike.
On the other hand it's the ****ing playoffs. What are we saving guys for. It's go time

this series could go either way. It took the jazz herculean team effort to stop morant and the refs.

hard to win when the other team has 38fta
