Media Meltdown Sinking Hillary

I get that you want things to be dramatic and exciting, OL, but the simple truth is that Clinton will get elected in just a few days. Trump does not have a path to victory. This latest little tidbit has no meat. There is nothing to see here kids, move along.

The emails in question are out there. If there was something damning I wonder why it hasn't been presented? Media cover-up, I'm sure.

Tell that to the Clinton camp... they are furious about the allegations.

They are certainly angry with the way the FBI director has gone about this. Do you think they are actually worried this could swing the election? Do you have any understanding of who the players here are and why this looks like a political stunt? Like looks so much like a political stunt that no one who already had any strong feelings one way or the other would fall for it and the same sceptical people who haven't picked a side will not be using this to help them make a decision?

Please don't act liek a 13 year old girl about this. Try to say something more substantive than one might find in a gossip column.

Anyway, the election is not in question. This is not a game changer by any stretch of the imagination.

Well if this isn't a game changer why would the Clinton camp give this the time of day at all? All they needed to do was wait for the FBI to finish their investigation however long it takes.

Also I'm certainly interested in what the undecided voters feel about this vs Trump's comments about woman and how they weigh them up. Which is more important, rude comments about woman or National security.

Trump supporters are gleeful, but their decision is already made. Clinton supporters have already made peace with the email situation. Undecided voters are likely astute enough to realize that emails from an Anthony Wiener investigation probably won't affect national security, although let's hope he hasn't been sending Hillary dick pics. I suppose there is a small chance that classified info was sent to his ex-wife.

Still have no time to watch TV news. All I get is on the radio, I have only a few minutes on the computer every few days.

A lot of Dem supporters calling out Comey for reopening the investigation.

So here it is. Comey has a rebellion going on within the ranks of the FBI, hundreds of people angry at him for doing nothing. Any county Sheriff or police chief knows that destroying evidence subpoenaed is a crime. Anyone lying to law enforcement when questioned is committing a crime. Anyone under oath knowingly lying is committing perjury, a crime. Anyone exposing classified documents to people without the security designation required is violating security laws. People have gone to jail for all this stuff, on a single instance.

Clinton has been seriously unethical, corrupt, and to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars selling access to our government.

There is enough known on all this to indict, and Comey's problem is that he was pressured, and yielded to that corrupt pressure from the Clintons and the Democratic Party interests and office holdrs of various sorts, and is vulnerable to himself being investigated on that. He got scared because he knows the facts are out there and can't be controlled. He was informed by FBI agents of new information relevant to the Hillary email issues, and accordingly under the law he had no choice but to reopen the investigation. All he did was notify Congress of the situation and the necessity of reopening the investigation.

I can't be sure he had ideas of doing this at this point of time because he was afraid of a Trump victory and subsequent Special Prosecutor appointment to investigatge it all, at least now he is not on the criminal side quite so clearly. And if Hillary wins, she can't just fire him because he's got a ten year appointment that nobody can touch. One good thing about this government, at least, is there is one person who can, if he chooses, actually act independently.

Game, the Dems, the Media mainstream media are in full defense mode, defending criminal actions. This destroys their credibility.

Nixon resigned when he couldn't control the news and the facts came out on lesser criminal actions. Hillary and the Dems should punt on this and let the law enforcement proceed against the criminal actions of Hillary. If Hillary wins the election, the FEC needs to charge the various media outlets with retailing the news and campaigning for Hillary. Well, that won't happen, but everybody knows the mainstream media is in on the lying to the public, pushing for Hillary and the bankrupt progressive agenda.

The RINO oligarch Republican RNC officials and progressive-allied Republican office holders are discredited as well. They are working very hard to keep their control of the Republican Party, and still some are willing to work against Trump. But Orin Hatch and even Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio can see the need to support Trump, just because Hillary is so bad. Mega-bad, compared to Trump.

It also looks more and more like Comey has a political agenda with the way he has/is handling this investigation and his timing. His behavior and the way he has handled it is all outside of typical FBI protocol. I am guessing he will not hold that position for much longer after this election is over. I also find it funny when people like Babe call out "main stream media" like it is some big collaboration or the same person. There are thousands or maybe millions of "main stream" media members each with different approaches and opinions. It is really hard to take people serious when the blame "the media" for something or say all of the media has an agenda. My wife has been a "main stream" media member for 10 years and she definitely does not have an agenda to hide truth or spread propaganda. It just makes me assume someone is ill-informed, uneducated or just a crazy conspiracy theorists that listens to terrible sources for their information and believes it.

I'm not sure what you think that proves? I already knew the news was scripted.

Is this evidence that we live in a false reality? Because if it is Trump is part of that false reality. If all the world is an illusion you and I have already lost.

No, it doesnt prove much. But to think the media isnt controled from the top down and isnt agenda driven is naive.

I guess you've never heard of Reuters and the Associated Press.

Most news agencies pull stories off "the wire" and do little to no editing.

Just like most people get their food out of a package and do little to no cooking.

No link. Me just thinking outside the box. How better to confuse the general voter than to distract them from Wikilinks (which was really hitting her hard) and then two days before the election clearing her yet again.

OK. Fair enough.

From what I can tell, there's not much evidence that this has hurt Hillary. There was a blip in the polling immediately after this came out, but subsequent polls revert back to the trend line.

That's one of the curious things about this election noted by many pollers is the volatility in the polls, likely in response to media reports about emails, ***** gate, etc. But the long-term trend has been fairly stable indicating from pretty much the beginning to today that Hillary is leading both nationally and across enough swing states to sew up the election. Nate Silver has the most cautious odds (Hillary 67%, Trump 33% approx), while most other polling aggregators give Hillary a much greater probability, as high as 80%-90% in some. Silver is the darling of poll watchers, as he nailed that 2012 election when others didn't but then he did whiff big time on Trump during the primary (until late in the process saying Trump wouldn't win), so who knows??? Personally, as I find the prospect of a narcissist utterly lacking the experience, judgement, temperament, and knowledge to lead the most influential country in the world, and one who panders to the worst elements of society, bringing the alt right, white nationalists, anti-semites, into the mainstream of American politics, and who sews mistrust about the legitimacy of America's democratic processes, to be such a horrific prospect that I take comfort in the polls, although intellectually I know there's still a chance Trump wins, and that is literally keeping me up at nights.
