Memo vs Turkey

It's reality, but doesn't mean that it's the right path!!

Poverty & hunger is prevalent in Africa - it's reality - but it shouldn't be.

The same goes with Turkey - just because everyone is kowtowing to this Prime Minister - doesn't mean that whatever he does is right. It could just mean that the people are scared to go up against him.

Look, that's politics. You can't make everyone happy. Otherwise, there wouldn't be an opposition. Gays are fighting for their human rights, people are fighting for abortion, people are fighting for the legalization of smoking weed which is not more dangerous than alcool. Women are fighting for equal rights and so on. That's wishful thinking if you believe that every minority can get his wishlist. You can stand up and fight for your individual rights as a mimority in a legal way without literarily putting the whole country on fire...

If the people are ruled by "fear", then there is no diplomatic way to change it except through these types of revolution...

Fear? Turkey is democratic. Just vote appropriate in the elections and get it done. Try to talk with the government. If your individual human rights are touched, a remonstrance/appeal to the European Human Rights Convention will get it solved. There are sanctions with the ultima ratio of banning a member state if it continues to hurt these rights. This would produce enough pressure to force the certain country to act correctly. Turkey is not Iran or Iraq.

To me it comes down to why is it in this modern age, that we still have a government that is part of the EU, dictating to its people through the use of a religion?

To me religion & politics should not mix. Why? Because there are so many ways you can interpret the Quran - it depends which part you're focusing your interpretation on.

And basically you can't run a country based on the interpretation of an old scripture that nobody can agree on the interpretation.

Then why is the CNN Turk not allowed to show what exactly is going on in the streets?

Democracy can only work if the voters are completely informed. Lack of information leads to unfair results.

For sure. Human rights come before the Quran, the Bible, the Thora and so on. I'm a lawyer in Switzerland. Turkey has the civil law of Switzerland incorporated in its law system. The human rights are on a good but not great level. Some European countries hurt rights of some minorities. The same in the United States, for example the camp in Guantanamo. In Europe, the death penalty is forbidden because it hurts the fundamental human right. Only China and other authoritarian have death penalties in its system. This would be a big reason for me to fight against my government...

I'm not Turkish. I don't know CNN Turk. Maybe it's a channel runed by foreign people with biased and wrong information. Maybe they force people to attack the government in an illegal way. I don't know the story behind it. Maybe this channel is a potential danger for the peace and security in the country. I can't give you an answer without knowing the whole facts.

Yes you can't. But you still insist on commenting without proper knowledge. "A Turkish friend of mine says..." does not make your hand strong when arguing.

I am Turkish, I live in Turkiye, and I say, these riots, protest whatever you say, is nothing to do about vandalism or terrorism. The people on the streets are regular citizens, who are fearing that the PM Erdoğan and his AKP government are surpressing our rights and dictating his ideology. He still turns his back on us and trying to catagorize us. He called to speak with the leader of the movement, but he couldn't. Because there is none. We are the people! We don't have a leader now. The other political parties are nothing to do with us, some wanted to claim the movement for themselves though. We rejected them. Because, we are one and only Turkish People. We are united now.

HAve you ever seen Real Madrid and Barcelona fans carry their flags, hold their hands and walk together, chant together? This is happening in Turkiye right now. Besiktas, Fenerbahce and GAlatasaray fans are united against the government.

Wow.. this truly is amazing.

Keep it up guys. You have to fight for freedom and for the kids of the next generation. Dictatorship through fear has no place in today's society.

YOu will be repped.

The action began because the PM insisted on destroying the Park and constructing a building called "Topçu Kışlası" which is widely known as the center of a really important historical "radical-Islamist" rebellion's Head Quarter that happened in the dying times of the Ottoman Empire(That riot is crushed also by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk who was a commander of the Ottoman army at the time, the Turkish Revolution's leader who is hated by the current government).

The current government is political-Islamist. They use the democratic tools to legalize their oligarchy. They are slowly and patiently crawling into the lifestyles of their opposition. It's not what looks like they do. It's what they intend to do with it that is the threat. The people who support the PM are made of:

people who are simply ignorant enough to believe anything that is given to them,
poor and helpless people that sell their vote and support for minor support like food packages and coal for winter,
rich people and firms that only act towards whoever is holding the political power,
people that were raised in a radical-Islamist education, that will not accept anything other than whatever is thought to them and literally hate everything about the Rebuplic (including the dreamers that want Ottoman Empire days back),
social groups and power holders that share the same interest in downing the Turkish Revolution of 1923,
little kids who will become their soldiers in 5-10 years as a result of being raised in an education system that tells false history as a part of their Counter-Revolution,
people who really believe their BS words of victimization,
people that work for the government or work in a place that works with the government and cannot ignore their pressure in order to make a living.
etc.

People who oppose him is mainly the people who actually know who he really is behind his so called democratic mask.

Here is a video of the Women's Branch of AKP -the current sole political party that rules the country. In the video, you can see how they exploit the helplessness of people to gain support. It may give you an idea about how AKP and Erdoğan gains their support: In a political succession, or simply by cheating. This video is only one example to their methods.

What are they saying?

What are they saying?

Basically;

Women that use official municipal vehicle to hunt for votes: "Stop recording. You are doing an illegal thing. (Oh my, what the hell are we gonna do now? They caught us)
Cameraman: Are they provisions?
Woman: No they are zekat (religious donations). You should notify us before recording us!
Man: So we have to notify you before recording?!?
Women: Of course! (I know that doesn't make sense but we are experiencing a major mind**** right now.)

The oldman in the end: They came from the towncenter. They've given everyone provisions who gave them their national ID's.
Reporter: What did they do with the ID's?
Oldman: The woman enlisted them.
Rep: To where?
Oldman: Why, AKP of course.

Rep: Do you know what was in these packages?
Oldman: Sugar, tea, rice that kind of thing.

Wow... the arrogance..

Erdogan also lashed out at the European Parliament over a non-binding resolution Thursday. In a show-of-hands vote suggestive of a broad majority, the EU Parliament expressed its concern over "the disproportionate and excessive use of force" by Turkish police against the demonstrators.

The EU assembly said it "deplores the reactions of the Turkish government and of Prime Minister Erdogan" - and accused him of driving both sides further apart.

"I won't recognize the decision that the European Union Parliament is going to take about us!" Erdogan said shortly before the vote, drawing raucous applause from his party members. "Who do you think you are by taking such a decision?"

Uhhh... who do you think YOU are??
