Mike Conley Sign-and-Trade Possibilities

I think we can only take like $10 million back. Anything more puts us over the apron. Brogdon makes $20ish.

If Conley wants to walk and we could lose him for nothing; then we have to package Bojan or Clarkson with Conley in order to get Brogdon, I think we gotta do it.

Brogdon is a better player than any of them due to his impact on the defensive end.

Bojan and Conley for Brogdon and some other value from Indiana.
Then Favors and 2nds for Kuzma.

Brogdon
Don
Royce
Kuzma
Rudy
Clarkson
Joe

Dude, no offense, but you’re high. Philly is in the ECF. If they add Conley (they can’t fwiw), they’re clearly better than we are with Conley IMO. I think he’d see it that way too. And Dallas? They add him, they might be better as well. I think Conley would look at it that way.
We will see about Conley but premature on Sixers.

You say that like good 3 & D guys are just hanging around on the corner waiting for the call. And how would we suddenly have tons of money for a 3&D if we don't have money for a PG?
We can’t just sign one. It’s going to come at the cost of some of the players currently on our roster.

I keep saying this, I have yet to read anything in the CBA that says the team that trades a sign-and trade player cannot go over the apron in the players they receive in return. The rules clearly state that the team that received the sign-and trade player cannot go over the apron, but nothing (that I’ve seen yet) about the trading team. Teams that receive a player vis sign and trade get hard capped for a year (ie, salary cannot exceed apron), which is why they cannot go over. However, it doesn’t make any sense that the team that is losing the player vis sign and trade would also be hard capped.

If someone can find something in the CBA or anything online that says we cannot go over the apron as the team doing the sign and trade I’d appreciate a source.

There are literally dozens of 3&D players that we passed on or traded out of position who were available in the last 3 drafts that are contributing on teams now.

Darius Bazely, Terrance Mann (although we drafted 3 guys a few picks later), Jaden McDaniels (available when we drafted), Opala, Kevin Huerter was drafted 2 or 3 picks before our pick, and so forth.
