Millsap for Bledsoe?

I'm still not buying into Bledsoe. Clippers haven't played well when he starts. But I'm always interested in clearing up our PF/C logjam.

I say do the deal. Bledsoe whether he becomes all he is hyped to be or not will still have huge value at the draft. He could have enough value to a team like NOLA that they may be willing to trade him for their 3-5 pick which we could use to get Marcus Smart or another player of our choosing. Maybe even Eric Gordon if he is wanting out and accepts a trade to the Jazz.

The point is it gives us a very valuable young asset. The Clips do it because Bledsoe's value starts to go down over the summer when they don't extend him and people know that he is gone and that the Clips can't match. I also think they grab Millsap to make a legitimate run at a championship and to prevent San Antonio from grabbing one of our bigs.

I think the thing that People are missing is that we were probably looking to do the Gasol deal and that is why we held onto Raja. Now that he is injured, this is the right deal to make.

But the side people don't see is now that Pau is injured we could still grab him on the cheap... here's how (and yes I know that it is a risk):

Millsap for Bledsoe/Odom

Odom/M Williams/Raja Bell for Gasol & LAL 2015 Pick. Yes we now get a pick out of the deal instead of Millsap/M Williams/Raja. We could also just send Mo/Raja/Odom for Pau too.

Then I would try and send Al Jefferson to NOLA for Anderson if we could get that done, otherwise Al stays until the end of the season and then we get the trade exception out of him.

Come the draft if Gasol comes back from injury and just shows that he can still play and is healthy we have serious options and assets to move up to where ever we want in the draft. We can keep Bledsoe and Gasol or trade them to move high up in the draft and get pieces back to build around. Getting Bledsoe is the first domino of creating serious value and flexibility.

Why would missing out on that push KOC towards retirement?
It was a joke. But it has to be frustrating to lay some major groundwork and then have a deal fall completely apart. I know, it happens all the time. For every trade, there are likely 10 that get discussed in general parameters and maybe 3-4 that involve serious discussions. KOC moving upstairs was a direct result of the turnover that the jazz will have this summer. Jazz needed an assistant GM and they wanted Lindsey. But he needed a "promotion" in order to be pried from SA.

Another thing to consider is if we want Millsap back in the off season we could do that if we want to. Millsap may find his options limited with the new CBA. If San Antonio/Houston doesn't make a run at him like I expect then we may very well be in the best position to land him. And whats great is we won't have to offer 5 years to do it.

It involved CJ Miles, Raja and the Memo exception. I can't remember the players coming back.
But the implications are that we likely wouldn't have Mo (no exception) or Foye (would have received players for CJ and Raja) and possibly Harris would have been shopped for someone besides Marvin. I'm not sure if a draft pick would have come our way or not.

The Jazz need to trade anyone of the old bigs. Bledsoe would actually fill a need. So on those grounds it'll never happen.

Great stuff MoTown. I got some sources for the Saints but none for the Jazz, so it's always fun to hear these things.

How can we do the Millsap for Bledsoe and TBD deal? That would put us over the 15 man roster that is allowed and I don't see us releasing anyone.

Millsap and Watson
for
Odom and Bledsoe.

I have no idea if the clipps are interested. We would potentially have to include a pick. And I for one would hope if we do it can be a future pick with some protection on it.

Why? If anything Odom+Bledsoe have less value than Bledsoe by himself.

Because Millsap makes >8M dollars and Bledsoe makes <2M dollars. We have to have contracts match up. Odom is in the last year of his deal. We would probably just cut him or Raja Bell him.

Also we may have to include some compensation in case Millsap leaves them after the season (highly likely).

Oh. That makes sense.
