Milsap is Gone

It's obvious to even the most casual observer.....that Sap was "pacing" himself for his next stop in the NBA! Why bust your butt for a losing cause? The Jazz were going nowhere and Sap still had some left in the tank for another mini-contract on the right team who recognized his value to do the dirty work and contribute when it counts the most! But guaranteed contracts can do that to alot of players and Sap was no exception! I'd like to see him land with the Spurs! Dallas is going nowhere next year. The Spurs can probably do a mini-reload for one more run. But then again, maybe not.

Millsap is oficially a Hawk. Happy for him, I'm sure he'll be showered with love when he returns to ESA next season.

The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to a contract with Paul Millsap, source confirms.

This is all making sense now.
1. Bring in Lindsey to squeeze all we can from the draft. Could KoC have gotten as much? Doubtful he pulls off THREE trades in 1 draft...
2. Lindsey next ignores all our expired contracts. KoC would likely have re-signed some of them.
3. Lindsey takes on salary of 3 players with expiring contracts and picks up 2 #1 picks in the process, which basically tanks the upcoming season. KoC not likely to have done this either. But wait...
4. We bring back Jerry Sloan as a "senior advisor", who has been one of the NBA's better motivators at getting average players to perform above their heads...
5. Next season we'll get multiple #1's in a rich draft AND sign top FA's available next year with recouped cap when the 3 expired contracts from this year come off the books. Brilliant plan!!

Demarre Carroll is going with him...

Demarre Carroll has reached agreement on a deal with Atlanta, his agent, Mark Bartelstein, says.

Paul Millsap has agreed to a two-year, $19 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks, league source says.

Yes, give a ton of credit to Lindsey, but I don;t think you can assume KOC would have done things much differently. The contracts were unwound by KOC before Lindsey arrived. And, despite signing veterans, KOC didn't budge on contract length: 1 year only. Last season the Jazz had a directive to win. But KOC had been mentioning how important cap space was going to be in 2013/14. That's why nothing has been done at the deadline. So I think Jefferson was gone, regardless, and Paul played himself out of any chance he had at being offered a new contract. The draft was definitely a team effort. Dennis mentioned Kevin's network was important in discussing trade options. What Lindsey has brought is a more extensive evaluation process.

Guys, show some class.

Paul Millsap, you did great for us since you joined the league. We wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors.

I am pretty sure most people have said they were appreciative of Paul and what he provided over the years, but were ready to move on. How is that not showing class?

I too think this much change is not purely a function of Lindsey. Core4 is right that KOC has been prepping for this opportunity for while now. The hiring of Dennis Lindsay was the signal by the Jazz org they were ready for a change. They've been working this off season for a while. Miller + Rigby + KOC all have to be on board for Lindsey to add his element to the recipe.

If DMC story is true, i'm sad about that. But it appears he's BFF with Paul. While i'm not a full scholar of the Atlanta Hawks, tell me why any young player would go there rather than stay with the Jazz?
1. You don't like Utah
2. You got more money
3. You don't like Corbin
4. You like Paul Millsap
.
It doesn't appear becuase the situation for winning is better.
