Mitchell needs to start

I wont be surprised if he becomes a starter but I really hope he has to earn it by stringing together a number of good games before it happens. He has looked great and he has looked lost so far in 6 games.

Yeah, I see no need to rush him into a role that he's not ready for. I don't disagree that his potential and personality are wildly likable.

That's why they did an early sub out on Rubio in the Lakers game. They put him in w/ Ingles and Hood so he could defer in half-court play initiations. I think Mitchell ended up only playing 6 minutes without one of Ingles or Rubio on the court. So he is actually not playing the role of PG on offense most of the time, even when Rubio isnt in the game and he is.

I think this is the perfect approach, all things considered.

I know, you already pompously told us. ;)

Hey, I'm passionate about the dangers of Trump.

Which resistance are you talking about? I'm pretty sure if I made that comparison it was in reference to the general population of Germany during WW2 being aware of the dangers of Hitler but going with it... not the German resistance fighters. You saw what you wanted to see.

Ya, I was mainly messing with you.

Udoh has scored a total of 8 points this season. In 86 total minutes. That's 14.2 minutes/game.

Scoring average- 1.3 PPG

That is why it is crazy how well he is effecting the game. The team plays extremely well with him on the court offensively and defensively. Defensively he is easily our best defender so far this season. Offensively I think he is helping create fast breaks that help, but he is setting good screens and doing the little things to really help out everywhere.

I need to go back to the DVR and watch Udoh. You know how you watch certain players? Well I haven't looked at Udoh closely. Would be crazy to have him Favors and Gobert playing well.

Against mostly second units. He's also not a target that the defense takes seriously. We'll see if he can sustain his impact, but even then, we've yet to see him play against scouting. I promise you if Gobert was playing in the 2nd unit and was being ignored he'd be absolutely ****ing feasting.

All that being said, I'm a huge fan of Udoh. I just think saying that he needs some of Gobert's minutes is incredibly premature and almost borders on offensive.

Yeah, I expect our starters to be better though. But we have also done odd substitution patterns this year so Udoh has played against starters of the opposing team a decent amount and still played well. Will he sustain it? Probably not but I have no idea. Either way he is playing incredibly well.

I also never said he should cut into Goberts minutes now. I said if he keeps playing like this. So I agree it is premature.

Although Gobert needs something lit under him to start playing harder. Everything is pointing to him putting in less effort. I am not sure if he is frustrated with something or someone, hurt, just coasting because he thinks we will make the playoffs again no problem or something else. His effort is less than it was in preseason though. He is still our best player even with this though.

We wouldn't be so high on Udoh if he played against KAT, Jokic, and DeAndre most nights.

Mitchell plays best at SG right now. I dont think putting him at PG helps the team. Ingles cant play PF and it would hurt his game. He would go from being a good defender to a bad defender.

Mitchell might become a good PG but thats not his position now and maybe not in the future either.

If he plays well enough to start I would put Ingles on the bench and move Hood to SF. But right now we dont need that. Just make sure he gets his minutes and let him keep playing against guys he can dominate for awhile. He is still young.

Say what you want about him in gd threads but his posts about the Jazz are usually positive and good the last couple years. No reason to bag on him for posting about the Jazz in a reasonable way.

they have been for years. except the last years of sloan, and harpring and all of crobains years with his vet power. sloan and harpring soured me a bit

But why does DM need to start? His trajectory looks fine so far. He seems to be a high character guy who won't self destruct if he's not given the keys to the Ferrari each night.

maybe if he starts he gets roy.

to lazy to google it, but not a lot of bench rookies won the ROY

DM can dictate the whole game. The others can't.

LOL Somebodies had way too much DM koolaid. I like the kid and hope he can continue to grow and improve, but right now he's not better than the others and he takes some horrible shots and plays out of control far too often. I'd be shocked if he started this season with a healthy roster available. I can see him becoming that guy, but right now your just as likely to see bone headed plays as you are good plays and that is not what you want from a starter.
