Mitt Romney vs Barack Obama

That's obvious. I'm not saying that should be the only reason, but it can play a part. You feel some personal connection to him or her, because of something else besides the same old politcal talk.

If you really don't see a big difference between the parties, or would like to feel represented by race or belief that does have merit.

If you are a Mormon, and you've never seen a Mormon president. He probably has many of the same values as you, or you'd like
to see what a Mormon would do in office. That's understandable. Why not? If Harry Reid was running for President you might vote Democrat. Voting the man, and his personal beliefs over his party.

You would likely see very, very few LDS republicans vote for Reid for president. Of the ones that would, most all would be heavily left-leaning to begin with.

But then again why shouldn't a black man vote for another black man, or a mormon vote for a mormon? Most minority groups rarely have someone in office that looks like them, or that shares their same belief.

I just don't like how the majority of Mormons are duped into thinking Republicans are "more christian" than Democrats. but that is another argument altogether.

If you are a Mormon why not vote for someone that represents your beliefs just on that level? That seems reasonable to me.
The same argument could be made for not knowing why most blacks are duped into voting for democrats. Look at the cities with the worst inner city problems. The vast majority have been democrat for decades and it's clearly not helping solve the problem.

And it's a fair argument. I don't think enough people on both sides truly do their homework, and find out who they are politically.
Your comment about the democrats not helping inner city minorities is awfully weak. That's pretty general, and we could
both give countless examples of success, and failure.

Seriously? There have been no major candidates for president except for Barrack Obama ever.

What does a stunning 6% more blacks voting for Obama have to do with a stunning 6% less blacks voting for Al Gore?
In the Gore election, there was no black man to vote for.
As well as all the other elections you mentioned had no black man to vote for.

Oh, and his name is "Herman Cain", and why would blacks vote for another black man when another black man is already president?

So you're telling me that you surmise that if the current president today was white, and Mitt Romney went up against Herman Cain, that the majority of black voters would not be voting for Herman Cain?

Sorry, you missed the point that most blacks vote democratic, whether they be black democrats or white democrats. Therefore how can one say that a black person votes on race alone when the statistics show clearly that it is not an important factor? It's not very complicated.

Basketball players have to vote for Obama. That way when Obama calls them to congratulate them (since he obviosuly has nothing better to do) they have something to say to him. I would have to say that 75% of the players (college and professional) couldn't name 3 policies Obama has signed off on in his first term.

well since you seem to think all POTUS does is call athletes to congratulate them, i'm not sure YOU could name 3 policies from obama's first term.

;)

Perfect statement.
Why would Obama have anything better to do, when his cabinet and the Fed do everything for him?
I'm voting for Obama because I want him to be the second black president in history, plus I would prefer that all provisions in the Patriot Act and NDAA get re-signed like Al Jefferson next year.

His horrendous healthcare bill, the campaign scheme DREAM Act, his "Green" Jobs bill, Repealed "Don't ask, don't tell", etc., etc.

I only made that comment because nothing annoys me more than listening to the news and all they talk about is Obama calling various athletes to congratulate them. The media treats him more like a celebrity than the POTUS. I would prefer if the media talked about the things he does that is going to affect this country (and affect me) rather than spending ten minutes talking about his March Madness bracket.
