Talk is talk until the games start. Since Williams is our new point, I'm behind him. But lets see him play. The guy hasn't run a true point in nearly 5 years.
It is exciting to see what he can bring to the jazz's game, certainly comes across as a balanced person. As others have in effect said, we will truly find out what kind of player he is when he beings to go under the jazzfanz microscope, play by play, game by game! Does he defend? can he defend the P&R? can he run the P&R? can he get past his man regularly? Is he a creative passer? etc etc. Here's hoping!!!
Like Williams said, he is who he is.
Mo's attitude >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Harris's attitude.
Your point guard has got to have "nuts in the cup" (thank you Franklin). Harris didn't.
Best set of interviews I've ever seen, including the conversation w/ Locke and his responses to fan questions. Was pretty funny to see that pic of him wearing a Stockton jersey taken a few weeks ago. I think he really did want to come back. And I liked his response near the end when he said his plan is to finish his career here (and KOC concurred).I don't know why, but I believed everything he said. I've always liked him as a person and player, but I like him a bit more.
Also, he has a real wealth of experience to draw from; three different teams, has played with Lebron, Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, Michael Redd before he was hot trash, and he was even the key piece in what became a trade for a #1 pick. Interesting, I thought.
Agree. And Deron was a bit aloof. I don't care that MO wont be a 20/10 guy. I see 15-16 with 6-7 assists. Fewer pts and assists, but he's not going to spend 15 seconds dribbling the ball trying to break his opponent down with crossovers, either. Mo will finish his career here, I guarantee it. And I think he probably has 3-4 years left as a starter and then he'll be willing to split time with and mentor a young PG.Absolutely correct. Harris was a good player no doubt.
But as a PG, he never seemed to gel the team together. He never led from the front. He just didn't have a 'go to' move that all leaders have.
I see Mo Williams votes that playoff experience is important for young players.
Mo will finish his career here, I guarantee it. .

If you listen to his press conference he explains all about the years he wasn't a pure PG. More by circumstance than actual desire. Milwaukee had TJ Ford return - and they moved Mo over to SG to acccommodate. LA brought in CP3 and Chauncey. When coaches have asked him to be a scorer, he's responded. But he said his real strength is taking the step-back 3 when teams leave him open on the P&R.I wouldn't call a 30-year old non-pure point exactly what we need, but he's an infinitely better fit than Harris.
See my new sig. Mo was asked about it and after he responded, you can hear KOC in the background (full audio is near the end of the press conference at about the 12:50 mark). Is that a wish or prediction? I dont know why Mo SHOULD finish his career here. I mean, thats upto the Jazz. A lot of players say the right things when they join a team. Ultimately how long they last until the honeymoon gets over remains to be seen. I do hope Mo has a nice run with the Jazz, but without seeing him in even a single game for the Jazz, I am not about to wish that he ends his career with the Jazz
Now imagine if he can have some of that toughness rub off on Favors, Hayward, etc. They don't need to be dirty players, just have a little more swagger, and as Mo said "balls to the wall" attitude.Listening to him especially in the David Locke interview I kept thinking that we have a new smaller Karl Malone on our hands. Southern boy tough guy slightly undersized but makes up with sheer grit and toughness. I wouldn't want to get in his way, that's for sure. (wonder if Hayward has any idea who he was messing with......)
