More damage control?

I can't fault him for doing what he feels is best for him, but there were 2 ways this could have gone down. 1) he does what he did and leaves everyone high and dry and 2) he tries to work with the franchise to help them get something out of the deal (sign and trade, some other kind of trade, whatever). He chose #1. That is a dick move. Could have at least demanded a sign and trade to get the same damn money and get the Jazz something back in return. That tells me he has bad blood with the organization. I smell the beginning of an implosion here. I am afraid this is just the first thread, and the full unraveling will come soon, unless DL can pull a rabbit out of his hat.

Bartlestein needed to drag itout as long as possible to get his clients more money.

And possibley screwing george hill as well.

Haywood is more than a coward he was his agents stooge.

Karma ought to catch this duplicitous duo. I wish haywood a blown out knee and shrunken man parts from his steroids.

I love Gordon, but I don't get the whole blog thing.

Could have just announced where he was going and then post the blog the next day.

Even better, pay for a full page in local papers.

He won't make the all-star team in the East. Lebron & Giannis will occupy the starters, figure Pozingus,Melo, Love,Jabril Parker, Embib,Whiteside,Monroe on the bench...plus who knows what rookie or other player gets hot for the first half of the year. if he does make it, it will be because Holford or IT4 got hurt and he had to take more shots. If he averages more than 16ppg I will be shocked.

I think if he stayed here or went to Miami he would have a better shot. The offense wont flow through him like it did here.

I really hope Philly stays healthy. I want them to destroy Boston for the next decade.

I dont see that happening. Philly's core has been wildly overrated because of how much people like Embiid's personality. I struggle to see him staying healthy with his laundry list of injury problems at his weight. I also think Simmons is way overrated as a prospect and creates awkward fits with whoever he plays with.

But maybe, would be cool to see.

Dude you really need to grow up and get a brain.

You just wished a knee injury on a guy for making a choice and for Joe Ingles getting paid a NBA contract.

He didnt want to play for your NBA team. Move on, I'm sure Hayward has.

yep I did. its nothing personal just business.

anyway, he gets paid either way so what does it matter.

The best thing about Hayward leaving is it showed me who I really need to mute. Some people just can't move on and have to make another man's decision so personal.

Hayward is a ruthless competitor. He's pushing to build his image and achieve personal goals. The way he and his family played up the situation on social media -- with instagram pictures, the letters from 7th graders, the Stayward video, etc. -- was part of his building up his aura and playing all sides in the negotiation.

When Lebron left Cleveland and people were burning his jersey, Lebron was just soaking all the attention in. I think Hayward learned a little from that.

I posted this in another thread, but will post it here as well. Here is the main reason Gordon left Utah, imo:

Gordon wants to be a top-tier player and wants to be viewed as a top-tier player. He sees himself that way, while the rest of the world doesn't quite. He wants to be more visible, on national TV more, so that people will stop underrating him as a player. This is especially important in the playoffs where every game is nationally televised and players earn their stripes. Winning an extra round in the Eastern Conference is important to build this perception, even if he never makes it to the NBA Finals. For a player who cares about his brand, being in a bigger TV market can make a big difference. I'm sure Kobe Bryant would have told him this when they worked out together (although it's obvious).

I think this is what tipped the scale. Whether Gordon is good enough to make this happen remains to be determined. He might have a bad game and get roasted by the media in Boston.

And the other reason, related to the first reason:

Gordon Hayward was a late addition to the All Star team last year. Now add a healthy Chris Paul, Paul George, Jimmy Butler and a surging Damian Lillard in the Western Conference, along with up-and-coming talent (not to mention his own teammate Rudy Gobert) and it's possible Hayward doesn't make the team in the next two years. That's important to him.

Going east gives him a better opportunity to reach his personal goals, regardless of team win totals. It's about what's best for Gordon.

I agree with what you are saying but he will not be respected if he wins in the East. It is obvious that it is the weaker conference by a wide margin. So basically Gordon cares about Gordon. He is going to get eaten alive in Boston with that attitude. Boston fans are spoiled and demand championships and even that does not guarantee a legacy.

Oh he'll get respect if nothing else for the east coast media bias, at least at first but it may turn into other things than respect and as you said wont ever have a legacy championships or not.

This just make Bartelstein look bad, as if anyone cares. Most agents are not real popular guys. GH clearly knew for sometime about this. I still think his wife wanted to live in Boston.

I can't recall who made the post, but the one that mentioned his interview with KK was spot on. I could see the angst in his face when he flashed the peace sign to the cheering fans. I think it came down to being back with Stevens and all the rest of the speculation, the grandiose plan to build his brand is a lot of b.s. That's his agent's doing not Gordon's.
