Mr. Mack

Sorry if there is a thread dedicated to him already. I wanted to have a discussion about him in detail.

I have very mixed feelings on Mack. The thing that I like most about him is what he brings off the ball on both ends. On defense I love what he does weak side and in broken play situations. He bodies up and boxes out big guys better then any pg we've had in a loooong time. He makes small, high bball IQ plays throughout the game that you might not be able to catch on TV. The intangibles on him are by far highest of the 3 pigs, and close to the highest on the team.

I've been shocked that a young and career 3rd string pg could come to a decent team like the Jazz and become a leader overnight. Mack gets after our own guys more so then anyone on the team right now. The way he gets in Rudys grill is really impressive to me. He's able to do it because of the confidence Quin has in him.

I don't think anyone would have guessed that he'd be thrust into the lineup and crunch situations like he has been. Its obvious that Quin is not a big fan of Raul or Trey, and I think to a shocking degree.

I have pretty high hopes for Mack. I think he provides good defensive, and look of offense that we were lacking. I like how he is able to facilitate easy buckets for our bigs. The issue right now is the bigs and him being a little out of sync and him not proving them the ball in ideal spots.

It's to me surprising that our 3 mediocre point guards could be so incredible different. I think Treys lack of defense and lack of chemistry between our stars is what has done him in. If Trey had more chemistry with Favors and Gtime I have no doubt he'd be playing at least ahead of Raul.

Once Alec gets back I think we will see less of all our pgs, including Mack. Ideally I'd like to see Mack get about 24 mins, Raul 12, and 12 mins of the triple wing.

I love Mack and what he brings.. solid PG play and some vet leadership as well.

Not sure why, but when I'm cheering for him on TV I find myself shouting "The MACK!!" .. LOL..

The one thing I don't like about Mack is he's such a terrible shooter, outside of that floater shot he makes inside of about 6 feet. I know he made a couple threes yesterday but for the most part any jump shot he takes is not only going to miss but is guaranteed to be an ugly ugly miss. But I suppose if he could shoot he'd be playing for someone else instead of the Jazz.

Since he's joined the team we haven't won a single game.

We beat Houston, but the losses haven't been from his lack of contributing ... it's been other guys, especially our bigs who have failed to produce at crucial moments -- Rudy in the last two games.

That he could come in and be our best PG shows how bad our talent is.
Yup.
We have known burke sucks for a long time now. And I think we all expected neto to suck. (He has been a bit better than I thought he would be.... Still sucks though)

Feels like to me there is a chemistry issue with Mack coming in and taking over - not only with Trey and Neto but with some on the team as well. This seems to have stung some folks.

He's good for a back up/3d PG. Has nice size and is alright defensively. He's a solid player overall... The fact that he practically walked into the starting lineup after barely playing in Atlanta shows how bad our PG position was, more than how good he is.

Shows he's better then Trey. Neto is a rookie who has outplayed Burke. Neto has a chance to be a starter in the NBA. Book it.

Neto hasn't sucked. He's a rookie starting pg. not sure what u expected from him. I expected much less then he's given. He, if given the oppertunity will be better then Mack. Higher celling in my opinion. Neto has Ben better then advertised.

Not sure how people don't see this. He's been even more impressive then our other rookie. Just don't understand how most don't see his potential.

Based on what? I have not really seen or heard anything to support that.

At best I think Burke feels burned but that's about it. I think there is a mutual interest in ending the Burke experiment after this season anyways.

I think there may be a chemistry issue, but it is based on Mack learning the tendencies of his new teammates and vice versa. Hard to come in in the middle of the season and start.

Mack finds the open guy. Too bad they can't shoot strait lately. He would run the inside out, p&nr game would nicely, otherwise.

And Rudy had been a liability in the paint on offense, which limits Mack's inside game. Shelvin is not a good outside shooter, so when the rest of the offense isn't flowing, he looks ineffective.

What sucks is Toronto and Memphis aren't going to be easy. They're both good teams. And there will be more Mack grumbling if we lose the next two which is possible. Glad Gasol won't be playing in Memphis.

The power of jazzfanzers getting together at a bowling alley will be enough to propel the jazz to victory against the grizzlies.

Last jazzfanz meet up was at the same bowling alley and was also against the grizzlies.

Chalk that one up as a W
