I will do anything to get Joel Embiid.
I love Favors... he could be Horford some day. I like Kanter, he could be 70% of Kevin Love. I like the picks we have stockpiled.... but Embiid is the only player who could be a top 5 player in the league.
My best offer for Embiid from hopefully Milwakee after Cleveland take Parker or Wiggins:
Favors, #5, #23, GSW 17', and the right to swap picks with us in 15 only. We also take on Mayo's contract. II would even make our pick unprotected next year and just give it to them if needed to seal the deal. When Embiid becomes the best big in the league and the second coming of Hakeem, no one will care that we lost a top 10 PF and a bunch of late picks when we have the games best two way center and a future HOFer.
Yes, it is a lot to give up. But do you really want to pass up on the next Hakeem but 7 feet instead of 6'10" to keep Horford and a few picks in the 20's. I look at Atlanta, they will never contend with Horfard as their anchor. That doesn't mean Horford isn't a great All Star player. But he isn't an all timer... Embiid will be.
My hope is that Exum slips to us at #5 so that Milwakee will pull the trigger (Orlando would be picking Smart in this scenario)
I would do this because I want franchise changing talent, not the next Gordon Hayward who is a 3rd best player on a contender. At the end of the day you can't win in this league if you have a team made up of #3 options.
Go all in on Embiid and win a championship!
(Then I would see if Sacramento would want Mayo for us taking on $17M in expirings plus one of either Jason Thompson or Carl Laundry for their #8 pick. With that we take Aaron Gordon, Vonleh, or Doug McDermott. Sacramento clears $16M to go after FA's to contend for the playoffs finally. They don't need their pick as much as they need veteran FA's. Maybe a Gortat type and a Livingston would get them there.) I would also be willing to trade Kanter during this draft for a shooter. So maybe pick up Gordon or Vonleh at 8, and McDermott at 10 by sending Kanter to Philly.
Go For it Lindsey!
