Summer league is never indicative of future success.

True. But summer league FAILURE is often indicative of future failure, or so it seems to me. So it's great Mitchell's been pretty successful so far.

In the short term, no, but in the long term a real player will show something that makes you think that they are an NBA player. If ALL of Ball's SL games looked like the first, I'd pull the warning siren. Trey Burke couldn't really break out in Summer League. The game there is just a whole lot faster than college and faster again in the NBA.

Mitchell's shot is like Hood's. They both always look like they're going in.

Also, Mitchell reminds me more of Oladipo than Marcus Smart.

Because Donovan Mitchell has Quin Snyder. Look at what Quin has done with Rudy, Wayward, Ingles, etc. Quin and his staff are very good at breaking down a player's game and then having that player work on just a couple of areas where they can excel. Once they've grasped those, it's move on to the next phase.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Mitchell is going to be a stud. Quin will rein him in offensively. And Mitchell's intensity and work ethic will make him successful.

Lyles, Burke, Burkes (I don't really include him. But he has regressed with Q)

Smart can't shoot doe. Or create offense.
You see dem stepbacks?

I remember seeing a statistic where it showed that Donovan Mitchell was a good spot up shooter at Louisville. Players like Rubio and even Ingles will help him get those open shots. Although I think his shot off the dribble will continue to develop and that will be an amazing tool for him to use. My only concern is his ability to draw fouls. Scouting reports have said that was his weakness and it is apparent he still needs to work on that.

Lol. Smart doesn't work hard?

Not what I meant at all. Smart is a fiery player who gives his all 100% of the time on the court. He's one of my favorite players to watch. But IMO he seems (speculation) potentially more difficult to coach. Also, IMO, Mitchell appears to be the type of individual who is extremely self-aware & dedicated to improving. Not saying that this isn't the case with Smart, just that I buy into Mitchell's professionalism more so than Smarts's (not to mention his offensive skill-set).
