Name the teams that the Utah Jazz are currently better than, and none of this, "well, they play in the Eastern Conference so they will have a better record. . ." I'm talking straight up better than. It will be fun to see if we can get a consensus line drawn and hopefully fill up a couple of weeks at least.

I'm going to get things started by saying that we are definitely better than Philadelphia (bold, I know.) I can't see how this would even be debatable as they add little to a historically bad team from last year. Here is their current roster before pare-downs:

Michael Carter-Williams PG Point Guard 6'6' 185 lbs 10/10/1991 22
Brandon Davies PF Power Forward 6'9' 235 lbs 7/25/1991 22
Joel Embiid C Center 7'0' 250 lbs 3/16/1994 20
Pierre Jackson PG Point Guard 5'10' 180 lbs 8/29/1991 22
Darius Johnson-Odom SG Shooting Guard 6'2' 215 lbs 9/28/1989 24
Arsalan Kazemi PF Power Forward 6'7' 226 lbs 4/22/1990 24
K.J. McDaniels SF Small Forward 6'6' 200 lbs 2/9/1993 21
Arnett Moultrie C Center 6'10' 245 lbs 11/18/1990 23
Nerlens Noel PF Power Forward 6'10' 228 lbs 4/10/1994 20
James Nunnally SG Shooting Guard 6'7' 205 lbs 7/14/1990 24
Henry Sims C Center 6'10' 245 lbs 3/27/1990 24
Hollis Thompson SF Small Forward 6'8' 206 lbs 4/3/1991 23
Jarvis Varnado PF Power Forward 6'10' 225 lbs 3/1/1988 26
Casper Ware PG Point Guard 5'10' 175 lbs 1/19/1990 24
Elliot Williams SG Shooting Guard 6'5' 185 lbs 6/20/1989 25
Tony Wroten SG Shooting Guard 6'6' 210 lbs 4/13/1993 21
Thaddeus Young SF Small Forward 6'8' 220 lbs 6/21/1988 26

The oldest guy is 26 and most of the experience is contained in end-of -the-bench guys. Well they would be end of the bench guys if they didn't play on the 76'ers. Outside of Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel, they have little that is going to cause any type of resistance to an opposing team. I guess you could say that Thaddeus Young is something, but he's really not and will probably not be on the Sixers for long anyway if they find a way to move him for a future asset. I also assume that Embiid doesn't play this year and if he does there will be severe conditioning issues.

So is there anyone out there that wants to argue that Philadelphia will be a better team than the Jazz next year or should we move on to the next worst?

Philadelphia, Orlando, Milwaukee, Boston, Lakers, Detroit
Maybe NY Knicks. Kings will find a way to be bad again. Letting Thomas go was a huge mistake. Denver has a very "meh" roster. Jazz will be better than Nuggets by end of the season, might be able to overtake them in the standings. And Minny will be affected by the Love situation all year. Expect them to possibly be worse.

Denver won 36 games last year and that's without Afflalo, Gallinari, and McGee who will all be suited up for them next season. Their win total will be comfortably in the 40's and they'll likely be competing for a playoff spot.

Pretty much this.

The jazz will not be better then the lakers. Kobe Bryant alone is the reason.

Ncoloradojazz, you should be ashamed of yourself. Did you inherit that ability to **** up a thread from your mother?

No?

So it was just the aids you got from her?

Wel lthe Lakers will be better then Jazz and the nuggets will be fighting for a playoff spot so the Jazz will not be better then them either. Philly they will better thhen and could go either way when talking about
Bucks or Orlando. Just some honest truth. Can't take the heat then get out of the kitchen

Come on fool... Neg me!

Your mom's always nagging me to come over, there's just one vowel different, so this should be easy for you!

All Laker hatred aside,

Lin, Kobe, Boozer, scrubs and Steve Nash's corpse probably will be better than us.

Who out of that group is going to stop people from going to the basket at will? I'm not convinced that any of them are actually healthy either. There ia a better than even chance of locker room disunity when the losing starts. The only plus side is that since they are giving up their pick, there will be no reason to tank. They don't even have a coach yet because none of tham want anything to do with the coming train wreck. The Jazz, sans injuries are better if only because we will have a bench.

Jazz should be better than:

Sixers
Bucks
Magic
Celtics
Lakers
Kings
maybe Timberwolves depending on what happens with Love
maybe Detroit
maybe New York
maybe Brooklyn
I think the Jazz will be a push with the New Orleans Pelicans, Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns (who overachieved last year)

I think we are only better than the Sixers and maybe Orlando after losing Afflalo but thats it on paper. I think there is a chance Brooklyn could be bad this year, but I think every team got better and we got younger. Not a recipe for much improvement. I am guessing 29 wins and a similar slot in the draft next year. Hopefully next year we can win the lottery.
