NBA Free Agency Moves in General (related to the Jazz, but not just moves made by the Jazz)

It's only a one year deal. Not bad, really, for both sides.
They have tons of cap space. Isn't there a rule about how much you can decrease a contract from year to year? Maybe they overpay this year with an "understanding" he'll give them a big discount next season.

Woj is reporting the Suns are not pursuing Milsap anymore. They are now trying to shed players. Anyone worth going after on the Suns? Bledsoe might have been possible before Rubio.

Our cap situation isn't great if Hayward and Ingles come back. But Burks JJ and Favors come off the books relatively soon. What we need is a cheap draft pick that can replace Favors' production for the remaininder(ish) of the Gobert and Hayward deals.

Just gotta draft well.

They signed Redick to a one year deal because there are bigger fish to go after next year, and they didn't want to tie up their cap space.

jesus christo, the dude was hurt. Why are people so dense about this and clinging to some alternative hope??

A lot of people here wouldn't know a good player if they saw one. Remember, the majority of this board didn't think Hayward was worth a max, wanted to let him go.

Now Hood isn't as good as Hayward, but he's young, a good shooter, a decent defender, and he's a smart team player. You lock those guys up.

I was one of them last offseason. But it wasn't because I disliked Hayward the player. I always thought Hayward the player was very good. The reason I didn't like the idea of giving Hayward the max back then was the situation we were in at the time. I didn't want to give Hayward the max and go over the cap without a clear and definitive star on the roster. As I saw it back then we had two borderline all stars in Hayward and Favors and we had some quality young players we were hoping would develop. We hadn't been to the playoffs in years. It looked like we were multiple substantial pieces away from making noise and building a team who might one day win a championship. I didn't want to go over the cap for a middling roster and end up like the Hornets for instance.

And then Gobert destroyed the league and clearly became a franchise player. He's a superstar. Gordon is an all star. It changes the whole situation.

such as...?

Kevin Love
Eric Gordon
Beal
Fournier
Gallinari
Harris
DeRozan
Chandler
Crowder
Anderson if they took back Burks and Favors and gave us Gordon as well
Aaron Gordon
Pretty much any all-star level player if a trade became possible.
I am sure there are some PGs that I would take and then move others around on our roster, defintely either of the Guards from Portland if they decided to trade one.

Or find the next James Johnson and ride that for a year or two. Capturing that kind of magic with the MLE this year would really vault us. I have no idea who it is/where to look, though.

Can TJ Warren play small-ball 4? I guess he can't really stretch.... Dunno. I don't like Dudley's contract and they aren't going to deal Bender or Chriss for what we'd offer.

Marvin Williams reunion?

I would love to see him back but I dont know about him being our main starter at the 4. He is 31 and owed 30 million over the next couple season. I guess if we traded Burks for him? I guess that isnt enough. Would Favors for him be a good deal? I dont know. I think I would rather hope Favors is healthy and sign a younger player for MLE to back him up and start if needed sometimes.
